There's nothing I personally dislike more in a roleplaying game than paranoia - of not knowing whether someone is evil or not, whether we're about to walk into a trap or not, whether the lead we're investigating is a waste of time or not. Sometimes we can make a judgment call based on what we know, maybe hedge our bets a little, and not feel too bad about the consequences. At other times we find ourselves knowing absolutely nothing after exhausting every possibility, but the pace of the game demands that the group move forward regardless. That's when bad decisions start happening.

Being a Diplomancer is tough, man!

You horrible tease! Now I have to wait a whole three days to hear (read) Pinkie's song!

You don't know that. They could get into an arguement about and it not show up until the comic after next. It might not show up at all.

Yes I'm a horrible person for putting that thought in your head, but I'm a worse person for enjoying it so much.

It won't be Pinkie's song. It'll be a much more impressive sonnet.

Or she'll roll a one and sing an off-key, crappy thing, that doesn't even rhyme. Or possibly...

Pinkie: Oops

DM: Oops what?

Pinkie: Nothing. *crumples up some sheet music and throws it in the trash* I don't want her, you can have her, she's too fat for me. She's too fat for me...

Three minutes later...

DM: What the heck was that?

Pinkie: I rolled a one. I didn't get to sing my song. I-I need to be alone.

And then I will want to hug Pinkie... When I usually can't stand her songs.

Some I like, but most prove INCREDIBLY grating. Especially when she is, for example, being an ass to an ass. /badpun

Dealing with paranoia is simple, really. You just have to remember the few following rules:
-Everyone is out to get you.
-Those who aren't, only want to use you.
-Those who want neither are incompetents.
-Those who are helpful, trustworthy AND competent are either lying or will eventually be put in a situation where you will HAVE to kill/betray them, so you shouldn't get too attached.
-Anyone stronger than you is a threat.
-Anyone weaker than you is bait for something more dangerous.
-Anyone whose power equals yours is exceptionally dangerous.

Just assume you're the only sane person in the world and you'll be fine. Every bad decision ever made started by trusting someone.
It's not paranoia if it's true!

I thought dealing with Paranoia went like this:
- The Computer is your Friend, citizen!
- Trust The Computer!
- Happiness is mandatory!
