Every 10th comic is extra long. Sometimes it's double-length, sometimes it's triple-length. The end result doesn't matter; the point is that size restrictions are thrown out.
Unfortunately, the effort that goes into making a comic increases exponentially with the size. Lesson learned.
I appreciate that you try to do something special every now and then. Why 10 days? Don't people usually do it every 7 days for the "Sunday" comics? Just curious. :)
I wonder if the "everyone in Ponyville" and "everyone in town" lines in panels 4-5 was intentionally "one" instead of "pony"... when Pinkie refers to everypony or nopony every other time.
Long term buffing, yes.
Fear effects, I hadn't tried that... Hm, maybe I should have made that Nightmare-Spinner/DreadWitch a bard instead of a sorcerer? That was a fun build. Especially once I got the power to affect fear immune monsters. Now I need to check comparative spell lists.
Well, that episode isn't for a while. By the time they get to Appleoosa, surely the characters will have leveled a few times?
I'm not sure what sort of song options Bards in 4e can get as they level, but it could be she just got confused and did her 'inspire rage' song by accident...
Will you please keep a list of all of the characters stats as they level up Newbiespud; also I love these types of comics yet I had no idea one was made about MLP:FIM until after I saw Ep. 3 of season 2, so thank you.
The interesting thing is that bards, IRL, were originally historians and loremasters... to the point that in the Celtic culture all their history, folklore, and cultural knowledge was passed on by bardic tradition, rather than being written down (much of the oldest celtic history and mythology was just flat out lost, because the spread of Christendom resulted in the abandoning of Bardic tradition. The only reason we know as much as we do about the Celts is that a few converts made a grievous break of tradition and *wrote what they knew down.*) A bard was literally a human library.....
I like going crazy with characters, and the Bard is easily one of the most fun to do that with. It's important to consider your characterization carefully if you go with a nonstandard personality, though, in order to seem more interesting and less plain obnoxious.
I take it you need voice synthesizers to read the comics? Or is it some esoteric browser with image auto-resizing?
DM: It appears as though the entire town of Ponyville has gathered in the library. And at the center of the commotion is a pink pony you recognize.
Pinkie: Meeeee! It's me!
Twilight: What the heck is all this?!
Pinkie: It's a surprise welcome party, silly! Weren't you surprised?
Twilight: Well, yes, but… Why…? Ugh, I need a drink!
DM: In-character or out-of-character?
Twilight: BOTH!
Pinkie: I saw you on the street and realized I didn't know you, even though I know everyone in Ponyville! So I HAD to throw a welcome party for you and invite everyone in town!
Pinkie: It's all part of my special talent! Everypony knows I'm super-duper awesome at throwing parties, which means I'm super good at Streetwise and Diplomacy as long as I'm in Ponyville!
Rainbow: Your special talent is THROWING PARTIES??
Pinkie: Abso-butely-lutely!
Rarity: <sigh> Hand me that character sheet, will you please?
Rarity: Pinkie Pie… Earth-Pony… Unaligned Bard. I see.
Applejack: Am I sensin' some emnity in yer tone?
Rarity: Forgive me, it's just… a disturbing pattern I've come to recognize. "Oh look, the wandering minstrel. Let's make a totally strange character out of it. No one has ever done THAT before." Simply put, the bard class is a player's license to go completely crazy.
Pinkie: Don't worry, my bard is COMPLETELY different! For one thing, she's totally not a performer at all… though she can perform if she wants to. Pinkie Pie's more about dealing with party guests, streamers, food, drinks, and all that fun stuff!
Pinkie: Although being a pony kinda complicates the drinks. The normal stuff won't work if nopony can get drunk!
DM: I'm pretty sure that's not…
Pinkie: So what else would there be…? Juice? Punch? Hot sauce? Ooh yeah, hot sauce! I'd totally put hot sauce on the table!
That last part was Twilight choking a bit, and then her mane bursting/turning into flames (like the pokemon ponyta/rapidash) with steam coming out of her ears, and then her running away (assuredly to drink some water somewhere).
Pinkie Pie is my favorite pony, to a large extent because she is the sort of character I tend to play in roleplaying games. So Pinkie Pie as an adventurer holds an appeal to me.
... And yeah. I can cause a lot of problems in games too. How did you guess?
Still, Pinkie Pie strikes me as having a lot of ideal traits for an Adventurer. Loyal, courageous, entertaining, fun, and a little crazy.
Pinkie player seems to have the right idea in taking a social focus in a game with a strong social emphasis. If it was 3.5, I'd say that Bard is the perfect class for her. Fair amount of skill points and a dash of arcane magic. It's a class that's ideal for creative problem solving. Not only that, but Pinkie Pie isn't so much about parties as raising peoples spirits (hence the balloons). She's not a *drumroll* One Trick Pony like that.
And while the mayhem and absurdity she creates can certainly be distracting, I see her more in the serving up cupcakes of +2 strength role than the throwing of -2 constitution pies.
Is this comic going to be late again? :C Or even does not going to be published?! D: It's already 12:06 AM, the 18th of October, Tuesday, and there's still no comic! That's terrifying!!!
I vote both, when I vote down I definitely state why. I think that if someone voted down without a comment I would find the person and ask why they voted down. wuxiaworld
Moabite.. you are my new internet hero.
Love you included the Derpy screen!
I love the Mary Suedom on this page.
It just sticks out.
1.) Long Term Party Buffing
2.) Fear Effects.

Suddenly, Appleoosa makes perfect sense. No bonuses + possible low rolls = inciting a war.
So, the whole diplomacy gambit may end up being kind of a wash. On the other hand, she's a total boss at buffs.
And debuffs! Griffons anyone?
My guess is "Roll Diplomacy." *Nat 1*

Twilight Sparkle has fainted.
