Writing a story that properly involves Pinkie Pie is kind of like writing a mystery novel. Everything appears one way before something happens that redefines everything another way.

Very nice! Story time today is about plots coming when you least expect it! Tell a story about a time where all the clues were in right in front of you, but you got blindsided anyway!

Not sure if this counts, but there was this one time when our group's kleptomaniac stole all of the money from a safe. ...belonging to the guy fixing up our cart. It wasn't THAT much money but it was his nest egg, so being a detective, (and a paladin) I was on the case. I tried all manner of rolls, spoke to everyone on the street, and even gave by far my best efforts of double talk and deductive reasoning. It was all useless. I couldn't "prove" she stole anything.

I was part of an expedition team that was going into a ruin for some fabled treasure. We stopped over at the last town before the ruin, a fishing town, and during the night this really cute elf rogue had broken into my room and pinned me down. It's obvious she was wanting what my party was after, but I was too deep in the plot to just give up and she was pretty darn beautiful so I cut a deal to just be slowly poisoned by her (and her charms) in exchange for the crown in the treasure...

I'm planning one for my players. I may have arranged for them to steal a powerful magical artefact from royalty. They think the artefact was stolen from the royals, who are are hiring them to recover it for them.

Actually the artefact was never stolen. They are stealing it from the royals, and the quest giver is going to use it to try and usurp the throne. The PCs will be arrested for treason.
