Limericks and I have an interesting relationship. They're not usually considered classy poetry, and I haven't been particularly fond of poetry in general since middle school. But I've recently come to like limericks in particular, and I don't quite know why.
Regardless... Music, poetry, games; as long as it makes someone smile, it works for Pinkie Pie.
There once was a poet named Dan
Whose limericks never would scan.
When queried on why
He said: "because I
Try to fit as many words into the very last line as I possibly can."
When doing tabletop games via Skype, I've frequently had to keep my tendency to whip up excessive verbage down to a minimum. I can feel for Pinkie's player on this one: It's just a fun thing to do.
Well, yeah, but that was while they were RPing. Using a line from the show is only really special if the player say it, not the characters. Or at the very least if the wrong character says it.
Well, actually there was one before this. When Rarity found out that she was the only one who rolled more Initiative than the manticore, she said "Forgive me if I withhold my enthusiasm."
While Barbarians do oft like to fight
With brutal rages and might
Sometimes a nice tune
Can give allies a boon
And beat baddies with silver-tounged smites!
Rainbow's BSODing in that last panel, better move on.
And Pinkie's a bard, she's supposed to have this type of thing on call. It doesn't necessarily have to be of any quality, so congrats to Pinkie for actually putting out something of decent quality.
When mired in a problem's confusion,
Heed not to the boundary illusion.

2nd line = 4 beats,
3, 4 is just so,
Count 2 and then go,
5th line = 4 beats.
1 and a 2 and a 3 rest,
repeat,
1 and a 2 rest,
repeat,
1 and a 2 and a 3 rest.
Standard cadence for a limeric.

DEAR GOD, WHY?
"Did you just come up with that now?"
I was wondering when you were going to use a line from the actual show.
That was a pretty good limerick. And she would have 5 more stanzas.
Now if you will excuse me, I have Giggle at the Ghostly to listen too.
Look who broke into our world again.
Was "Pie" a common name back then or something?

While Barbarians love to rage
And vicious battle to wage
It is the Bard
Who works very hard
To create their ballad for stage.

I deserves a voiceover!
and IT deserves a voiceover!
and I need to go to bed...
decreed limerick writing a crime.
So late into the night,
all the poets would right,
poems with no rhyme or meter.

I almost want to hear those other 5 stanzas...
