I can't believe how many times now I've written myself into the "I have to actually write a poem or song for Pinkie Pie" corner.

Also, obligatory Octavia.

A page late, but I think this still works.
Any time you found out something, and you hve to find some way of informing your in-game self?

More often I realize that other characters would figure it out first, so I tell their player so they can worry about that.

Just this week. In a sci-fi game, my PC - the ship's mechanic - was talked to extensively by some droids delivering a part. I failed a Perception check. I'm pretty sure that was an excuse to plant something on our ship, but I'm not sure how to excuse another check.

Fortunately, another PC who wasn't there is paranoid enough to potentially prompt another check once she hears what happened.

Huzzah for PC paranoia! :D

It's part of who she is Spud, you can try to escape it but it will always sneak up on you. Like Pinkie hunting down Rainbow Dash in season 1, she will always get you when you let your guard down.

I agree with Dash,; the last time Pinky sang a song "with no hidden meanings or covert messages" the Bison declared war on the Ponies!

As I really like singing and writing poetry, I jump at these opportunities.

...And while I can't say for who here, I have written some songs for my ponyfinder villains.

I do not tend to play bards, so I do not get many opportunities.

Just 'cause someone's a bard doesn't mean they can't have a hobby of musical theater or waxing poetic. I mean one can't be evil all the time. And if they're evil poems or songs than who's business is it but their own and the heroes they force to sit through their lavish musical numbers and poetry nights??

Have you never considered... an Evil Bard? A Bard as the big-bad of the campaign? A wicked Bard who uses their songs to ensorcel people and trumpet down the walls of opposing kingdoms?
Dusk Raven 23rd Sep 2017, 6:46 PM edit delete reply
In one of my settings I had a half-orc Bard who went into the Dirgesinger prestige class (3.5, converted to Pathfinder). Basically, it's a Bard who turns from inspiring courage in his allies to inspiring sorrow and despairin his enemies... and can even affect undead with music (the class came from Libris Mortis, after all).

He was the rival of Pinkie Pie, not-coincidentally, part of a party of evil counterparts to that setting's version of the Mane Six. Well, he was Chaotic Neutral and RD's counterpart was Lawful Neutral, but they were mostly evil counterparts!

ayla: Me too. Granted, I need a bit of time to prepare, but if I see an opportunity coming up in the next session - especially in a text chat game where I only need provide the lyrics - I will sometimes do this as prep for the session.

(Psst. Spud. It's "fillies and gentlecolts".)

I would think that the next thing that has to be done (before the poem) is for Fluttershy to get the word to Pinkie Pie (not merely to Pinkie's player, who already knows) that there's something possibly amiss about Blueblood -- complete with details.
As it stands, Pinkie Pie (in character) is still as clueless as Rarity is (unless I misunderstand).
Ganny 23rd Sep 2017, 9:19 AM edit delete reply
That'd be great... except then Spud couldn't use the magnificent art of Fluttershy shouting at the gala. :D

I can see Pinkie Pie getting informed by Fluttershy offscreen.

So, we know great and ridiculous things happen on a cutie mark skill nat-20. What happens on cutie mark skill nat-1?
Digo 23rd Sep 2017, 12:54 PM edit delete reply
Oh good, when the bard starts off with that, you k ow this is gonna be good.

I like how Rainbow Dash is the one going "oh no" instead of ...pretty much anyone else really.

I'm starting to suspect the prince is actually Elusive
ZhonLord 24th Sep 2017, 9:19 AM edit delete reply
You should read the comments from previous pages Pumpking, we've been suspecting him of being Elusive from the first panel he was introduced. And the evidence is increasingly pointing to it.

Unless of course Spud has built him up as a red herring.

Am I the only person out there more hyped for Octy than for Pinkie Poem Song Thing?

It's only a matter of time before Spud makes Octavia and Scratch Vinyl secret adventurers who are protecting the world.

This is the type of plan you create as a player, knowing that everything is going to burn around you, but also knowing that it will be totally awesome and worth it.
