You see why I wanted to use the full sequence, even though it was much much bigger than I ever expected? So I could show off, among so many other things, a mesmerized pegasus-rogue Isabela donning a top hat and tap-dancing on a decorative railing?

I have no issues with that reasoning as that is too priceless.

I've now got that song 'Hello my Baby' stuck in my head, with Isabela singing the lyrics.

https://youtu.be/d_Y8v_DcWX8 Oddly enough used in a RPG campaign recently.

Hello my Baby
Hello my Honey
Hello my ragtime gal
Send me a kiss by wire
Baby my heart's on fire!
If you refuse me
Honey, you'll lose me
Then you'll be left alone
Oh Baby Telephone!
And tell me I~'m your own!

Check please!

(No, I didn't look anything up.)

Everybody do the Michigan rag!
Everybody likes the Michigan rag!

Every Mame and Jane and Ruth,
From Weehawken to Duluth!

Slide, ride, glide the Michigan,
Stomp, romp, pomp the Michigan,
Jump, clump, pump the Michigan Rag!

That lovin' raaaaag!

(I, however, did look this up.)

Depending on how you interpret spontaneous musical numbers, you could argue that Pinkie has domination powers in canon...
Freelance 9th Jan 2018, 10:06 AM edit delete reply
I don't know if I'm disappointed or relieved that the screenshot of Pinkie with swirling green eyes wasn't used for the domination.
Winged Cat 9th Jan 2018, 11:14 AM edit delete reply
Winged Cat
High Charisma is a domination power, outside of combat.

In 3.5, I have Jimothy the Bluffomancer: a 1st level sorcerer with charm person, +3 in Profession(lawyer),+6 in Diplomacy, and +16 in Bluff.

Mwahahahaha.
ChrisTheS 9th Jan 2018, 6:28 PM edit delete reply
How'd you manage that? I thought I was pushing it with my diplomancer warlock with +11 at 1st level...

(I talked a wererat into becoming my minion, and a dedicated mercenary into abandoning his contract with an organization that tends to make traitors and failures disappear.)

Actually, pinkies one if the few ponies who doesn't have everyone join in when she breaks into a spontaneous musical number.
Hariman 10th Jan 2018, 12:56 AM edit delete reply
Only sometimes. Pinkie has utterly failed with some songs, but had the entire town since for others.

Heck, Twilight picks up that knack by the end of season 3.
Classic Steve 9th Jan 2018, 7:32 AM edit delete reply
Glad they keep their apparent domination thoughts tasteful.

Pinkie Pie's player either isn't into lewd, or has no problem keeping it away from this table. (Though if you go by shipping charts, the only one who would have a problem with it would be the DM.)
hariman 9th Jan 2018, 1:39 PM edit delete reply
...Shipping... *Shudders.*

I don't ship most ponies. It's much more likely that Friendship is SO strong in Equestria that lifelong "Straw Hat Nakama/One Piece" level friendships are the norm, and that most relationships are platonic.

Except three ships: 1: Flash Sentry Pony and Twilight, because the fanart makes them ADORABLE together.
2: Flash Magnus and Rainbow Dash. They just get along so well when on screen together, and they have different interests/life paths, but similar strengths.
3: Trouble Shoes/Derpy Hooves. Because it's also an adorable and charming ship.
Archone 10th Jan 2018, 2:33 AM edit delete reply
Didn't the Cutey Mark Crusaders ship their own teacher with Big Mac?
Hariman 10th Jan 2018, 8:39 AM edit delete reply
Yep. It didn't stick though, and Big Mac fell for someone else.

Full-res shots here.

I cannot for the life of me remember why or how I thought this bit up. I don't even remember doing any of it except the top hat, Rainbow's tongue, and the lollipop pendulum.
Digo Dragon 9th Jan 2018, 11:02 AM edit delete reply
Digo Dragon
It also fits neatly into my theory that earth pony hooves have no issues gripping small objects (i.e. the way Pinkie holds the pendulum).
Winged Cat 9th Jan 2018, 11:19 AM edit delete reply
Winged Cat
Theory? It's canon, given how many times they grip small objects on screen. Exhibit A: nearly any scene involving bits.
ChrisTheS 9th Jan 2018, 11:41 AM edit delete reply
Tails of Equestria even has a sidebar about it in which they basically say "just try not to think about it too hard."
Digo Dragon 10th Jan 2018, 5:18 AM edit delete reply
Digo Dragon
Yeah, but it's never outright said or called out in the show. Nor do any RPG systems bring it up with any mechanical notation (few if any just say "accept it, move on"). Would have given Earth Ponies a solid ability, rather than vaguely defined powers.
ChrisTheS 10th Jan 2018, 5:31 AM edit delete reply
Except earth ponies hardly ever do it in comparison to unicorns. Objects that require hands to use are clearly an example of subtle and entrenched unicorn privilege.
Hariman 9th Jan 2018, 1:52 PM edit delete reply
I think the other explanation is that pony hooves are literally magical "magnets" that function similarly to fingers and hands, though not as dexterous.
SilverShadow4 9th Jan 2018, 3:54 PM edit delete reply
That's how I've rationalized it since the beginning lol
hariman 9th Jan 2018, 1:55 PM edit delete reply
I really like this page, especially with Pinkie being ridiculous enough to force her enemy to dance in a top hat and cane, and also for Pinkie making sure that Rainbow gets hits in, despite her horrid dice luck.
