DM: You all finally hear the hoofsteps and wingflaps of approaching royal guards.
Blueblood: You think these fools can keep me locked up?
Fluttershy: YES. You're going to go to prison peacefully and think long and hard about what you've done. Or else, I swear, we won't go so easy on you next time.
Blueblood: Eeep!
(beat)
Rainbow Dash: Yeah, what she said.
SFX: (BONK!)
Rarity: What shall we do now, friends?
Pinkie Pie: I like Applejack's idea of donuts!
Applejack: Uh, that's not really what "dollars to donuts" means, Pinkie… But heck, if we don't need to be here for the arrest, then we might as well go out celebratory snackin'.
Twilight Sparkle: So… do we roll Streetwise to find an open donut shop?
Pinkie Pie: On it!
212 images and 32 updates later, the collaboration draws to a close. We shall soon return to regular TV show screencaps.
I think I managed to use every single image I was provided with. Maybe not always with the original context they were conceived with, but we made it work. I cheated and used one repeat, which was the initial Magma Beast image. But other than that, the sequence made a beyond-excellent blueprint for the scripting of the long-awaited Elusive boss fight. Seriously, I've been wanting to do this since I started the Swarm of the Century arc.
I urge you all to check out ChrisTheS's deviantART page, check out the full-res RAW image compilations for these pages, check out Star Mares... just throw as much internet love his way as possible, because I never would have been able to pull off anything like this on my own. For Friendship is Dragons and the things I wanted to do with it, this has been a dream come true. Thanks, ChrisTheS.
Notice: Guest comic submissions are still open until this arc is finished! Guidelines here.
The first was the longest-running D&D campaign I DM'd and at the end the PCs retired and ran their own business--a tavern where future adventurers can all meet up. Second was a post-apocalypse campaign where the PC blew up a chunk of the moon to destroy an alien mothership. They then continue exploring the world, riding into the sunset. Third was a western where the PCs got drunk and partied until they found themselves on a train going to Mexico. They were okay with this. Fourth was a conspiracy game where the PCs saved the world from an alien colonization plot by detonating a nuke on the island where the joint alien-human Illuminati program was running from. All the PCs save one killed themselves in this detonation. The sole survivor went into hiding, watching out in case any of the baddies survived.
Out of game? We usually go to Denny's.
Derp, forgot a game. Shadowrun--PCs sold off a ton of paydata they collected from the evil Johnsons they killed and retired to the Caribbean. It wouldn't last...
My players have a strange predilection for roleplaying their PCs going out for drinks, despite all of us being teetotalers in reality. I suppose they think it's just a classic part of fantasy RPG.
Both in (which is then followed by a series of "what they did afterwards...") and out (which is followed by going home and going to bed) of game looks a bit like this .
True, but I think this DM plays fair, and will keep Elusive in jail, especially since Fluttershy and her ridiculous Intimidate score was the one to give him the "behave, or else"...
Plus, I think we're about to get a Celestia provided debriefing, the reveal of Donut Joe as a secret agent, and Rarity realizing that Rarity is playable again. ;)
Great job, liked the original panels a lot. Sad we don’t get the donut shop but oh well.
My group usually celebrates boss victories by taking trophies and then telling tales in the local inns. Came back to bite us only once- the dragon we killed was a village protector and we didn’t know. Had to spread his hoard around more than we liked to alleviate things. Another time the Evil Wizard we axed turned out to be the king’s brother and we thought we were screwed, but then the king thanked us for removing a bothersome relative. Phew.
I'm a little confused. Are you sad we don't get original panels of the donut shop, or do you think The Best Night Ever arc has ended here? Because there's a little bit more to go.
This amuses me because I recently had his descendant take the role of a retired space pirate turned diner owner :)
Just sayin'... I got the model already, with a very fetching eyepatch to boot. Just needs recoloring since currently it's in Daring Do's color scheme :)
Fluttershy's comment essentially says it... but I had this mental impression of Rarity leaving a parting comment for Elusive:
Today is the first day of the rest of your life... However long that may be, darling.
How much of the guild was in on the Dainty Dove<>Rarity stuff? "The boss just got taken out by _Mary Kay_" (well, DD was pushing the farm cosmetics, wasn't she?). And did Elusive have any sort of succession plan in place (considering the amulet and his goals, he may have been scheming for immortality)? What sort of power vacuum will we see in the upper ranks -- the in-fights may thin the guild down to just a street gang.
ZOMG!
I think I just had the hardest laugh since starting FID. The horrific big bad Elusive going "Eeep!" absolutely made my day.
It also makes me wonder how much was actually him and how much was the amulet speaking. Why do I have a feeling the soul captured in the phylactery will be revealed as the "true" big bad?
