Princess Celestia: Do you know the problem with secret guilds and shadowy leadership? The myths are more valuable than the facts. To the rank and file, "Elusive" wasn't a pony. He was a legend. That makes for some big horseshoes to fill.
Applejack: Fat lot o' good it did him with Isabela and the rest.
Spike: I'll bet the real "Elusive" was pretty frustrating to work for.
Twilight Sparkle: So if you have the secret codes and everything… And you secure the silence of the lieutenants…
Princess Celestia: Let's just say "Elusive" has denounced Blueblood as a crazy imposter. And the Invisible Thief may soon show a gradual change of heart towards the side of good.
Rainbow Dash: You're stealing the whole Thieves Guild away from him?! Going full Shadow Broker?! Heck YES! If that's not awesome revenge, I don't know what is!
Pinkie Pie: I KNEW IT! KNEW IT! CALLED IT! CELESTIA IS ELUSIVE!!!
Fluttershy: How nice for you.
It took me until the last pass to remember Oh yeah, this was a Mass Effect 2 thing and I've already established Rainbow Dash as a BioWare player, so I can just directly reference Lair of the Shadow Broker.
Which I'm kind of weirdly ashamed of, because I was that guy who went through the entire original trilogy nearly six times to see all the classes, choices, romances, and butterfly effects. You'd think I wouldn't be coy about it.
Notice: Guest comic submissions are still open until this arc is finished! Guidelines here.
I saw a T-Shirt that had a skull and crossbones on it and said "I am Dread Pirate Roberts #34796. Ask me about Franchise Opportunities in your area!" It massively amused me.
A very wise friend once told me that a writer actually wants the audience to figure out the twists and turns... the moment right before the reveal. So that the audience member gets both the surprise and the vindication of paying attention and being intelligent.
Or at the very least, a writer should aim for that.
A wise friend, indeed. A story where nothing can be predicted is incomprehensible, not a story. Even subversions need something ahead of time to show they're possible within the setting, otherwise the subversion is just nonsense.
Have you noticed any differences between writing a comic and planning a campaign as a DM?
Honestly, she probably likes the feeling of being an awesome renegade action-heroine that kicks butt and romances all the sexy aliens without breaking a sweat. I'd actually be surprised if we find out later that she was a Full Paragon FemShep and actually took the time to read all the sidestories and do all of the random side quests. You know, the time consuming stuff that most people ignored in favor of shooting more aliens, only to then realize that that stuff would become helpful in the third game due to the whole annoying "Galactic Readiness" thing and no I'm not bitter!...
Given that she knew a side-quest enough to reference it when trying to explain parasprites to Fluttershy's player, I figure she at least pays a little attention to the context.
It's just... Knights of the Old Republic 2, at least (Made by Obsidian, I know, who I think are actually better than Bioware), had so much dialogue in it that I can't imagine someone playing a game like that and only being in it for the action.
Hmm. Renegade/Paragon, plus Red/Green/Blue endings...
Yeah, six playthroughs for the major points. It's another matter if you're going for all romances and all variations of romances, or seeing how few characters you can have survive the Suicide Mission without completely scrubbing out.
Also... damn ME3 DLC. I'd have at least started that, if I didn't still have to pay another $30 to $40 dollars for the Citadel and other DLC.
The sad part is that the DLC (especially Citadel) is so extremely worth it, especially when combined with some of the absolutely brilliant mods that have been made. Even if you only run the graphics updates, it feels like a modern game (definitely better graphics and animations than Andromeda :P) With the new playstyle and content from DLC and mods, you have enough material for another 2-3 playthroughs.
...Personally, I'd've instead finagled a way to put Rarity at the head, since she's actually been a member and seen the workings and the like... But this, too, is fairly Celestia.
