The Cast page will be updated... when I have time. My local files are updated, it's just creating the new summary cards that will take forever. (I really need to invest in some graphic design learning.) But this is the broad-strokes basic rundown.

I was surprised by how many of these were slam dunks, honestly. C'mon, "Guildmaster Thief" for Rarity? I had no idea that was even an option until after The Best Night Ever was finished!

Notice: Guest comic submissions are open! Guidelines here. Deadline: January 27th, 2023.

Your favorite Paragon Path flavor(description).
Your favorite Paragon Path usefulness.

I haven't done Paragon much and ... I only had one character that I remember at Paragon Path. A minotaur Battlemind/Iron Guardian. Being made of Iron and from my race and everything gave me the best intimidate in the party, but I was a giant nice guy...
I wrote about him here:

Mechanics-wise I don't remember if I liked it more than anything else. Battlemind's At-Will high level powers were the things I invested more in, and that was satisfying enough.

The purple eyed something or other that worshipped a purple star Eldritch abomination named Caiphon (or was it Caiphone or caifone).

I liked that Paragon path because it allowed me to homage a character who was afraid of a God she encountered, and would pray for that monstrous goddess to look away except during fights.

I also liked the powers and abilities it got.

For all the Psion paragon paths I agonised over when I reached Paragon, I think I could have chosen better mechanically than Time Bender, as A. a burst 1 encounter daze, B. a daily +2 to all defences with WIS bonus speed and C. replacing a roll with a pre-rolled d20 was boring but useful.

Flavour-wise it was pretty much perfect, as she was all about phenomenal telekinetic power in a pint-sized body, and we were dimension-hopping heroes in a multidimensional, multi-party campaign. She was also pretty insecure and wanted to do everything herself. Eventually gaining enough insight to her power to warp time with her mind just to tank better than the Paladin and shut down whole fights before they started is absolutely her.

Favorite 4E stuff was the Psionic manual. For whatever reason it resonated with me. I really liked the Battlemind class and how you could play it as someone who didn't know they were psionic or were in complete denial. You weren't psionic, you were just stronger, faster, and better looking. You weren't reading their minds, they were just predictable.

Then you get into Zephyr Blade as the Paragon Path. Now you are so fast you're skipping the intervening space, phasing out of reality and hitting insubstantial enemies. Now you can no longer deny you're a normal human. Normal humans cant teleport, cant hit ghosts and certainly don't have weapons pass through them with no injury.

Welp, guess it's time to come to grips with the fact you're some sort of brain warrior.

I'm especially impressed with Pinkie. I had no idea that 4e bards had the option to make causality their plaything.

It's frankly terrifying when you get to the lvl. 20 power, End of Luck: on a hit the enemy takes 4d8 + Charisma modifier psychic damage, and each of the target’s attack rolls is treated as a natural 1 (save ends). If you have a party member that lets you debuff saving throws (Psions are excellent at this), this turns anything into a pinata. Even bosses.

So a Bard could use

Dale, dale, dale
No pierdas el tino
Porque si lo perdes
Perdes el camino

to inspire terror upon their ennemies.

Guess I was wrong on all counts when I wrote that Guest Page. Ah well, your comic, your call.

Ah, so when leveled-up, you get to use, say, Flutter-Hulk or Flutter-Bat? :-D

YOU get an inspiration point! And YOU get an inspiration point! EVERYONE GETS AN INSPIRATION POINT!

Not that I even know if that's a thing in 4e.

Despite it being a thing in 5e, my players rarely remember to use them. On occasion they ask what the point does. XD

I have a bad habit of hanging onto mine for eternity "just in case" - and then I wind up giving it away to another party member who already spent theirs.

had to look up what Paragon Paths are
all I know of D&D is mostly from
Order of Stick and Grand line 3.5
- which don't have them. and have min-maxing and stuff instead
but they do look.. interesting.

You can't go with Pathfinder AJ, we're playing 4E.
darkgloomie 13th Apr 2018, 12:21 AM edit delete reply
Well, it's the Boring But Functional option. Seems to fit.
