Guest author: DragonTrainer

This sabbatical will last until the beginning of May, so I still need a few more guest pages so that you guys don't lack for content.

The floor's open to artists and writers. I need five pages at a minimum, and the first one will launch on April 19th. Good luck!
Newbiespud 10th Apr 2012, 4:22 PM edit delete
For those of you that want to submit guest comics, send your concept or script to If it doesn't conflict with anything I might have planned, you'll be good to go.

At the end of the day, the only requirement is that the image width is at most 800 pixels. Whether it's your own art or screencaps is up to you.

Notice: Guest comic submissions are open! Guidelines here. Deadline: January 27th, 2023.

Why do I get the feeling the Feral Earth pony is going to get along with Pegasus Barbarian?

Brings back memories (shudder). I ran with a group that had some players who had these problems...anyone ever have to have a character audited by the GM? I watched as one of the party magic users(can't remember his exact class)was audited when the GM noticed something wasn't wrong. Turns out that when he leveled up, he did some creative updating of his character. After the third time he got audited, they suspended him from the group for a month. When he came back, he did it again, never learned.

Then there was the guy who wanted over an over the top starting character. We had to explain to him that the items he wanted were for specific groups and he couldn't just say he found them as a level one. he actually argued with the GM over it! That's why I like starting gear lists in games like Rifts...makes it easy to control what a level one has.
DracoS 10th Apr 2012, 5:37 PM edit delete reply
When something WASN'T wrong? What does your group do to people who make mistakes? D=
darkwulf23 10th Apr 2012, 8:35 PM edit delete reply
He probably pulled so much crap that when no one noticed anything was wrong, they checked up on him anyway encase he was trying to sneak something under the radar.
Chakat Firepaw 11th Apr 2012, 8:06 PM edit delete reply
In exchange it's Rifts, so you need to either seriously restrict what books are useable or vet all the characters _anyway_.

Mind you, I'm quite willing to run Hero: The game where the rulebook itself points out ways it can be abused and flags certain powers to warn GMs that they are trivial to abuse accidentally.

Haha, looks like he's going to be raised by owls again!
Digo 10th Apr 2012, 8:51 AM edit delete reply
Is it bad that when he said "3rd party book" I immediately thought of Mongoose Publishing? XD

Needing content? What's the guidlines? Screencap comics only? Page size? I assume 1st season only.
terrycloth 10th Apr 2012, 11:21 AM edit delete reply

In 3.5, 3rd party book often meant White Wolf's stuff. There was a spell in one them called 'Egregrious Might' which was VERY WELL NAMED..
Newbiespud 10th Apr 2012, 12:05 PM edit delete reply
Ideally, the final image should be no wider than 800 pixels for readability. Other than that - screencaps, original art, both seasons, it just needs to be a pony D&D comic.
Enchanter Tim 10th Apr 2012, 2:07 PM edit delete reply
Mare-Do-Well is from season 2 so that stuff is available as well.

Anyone else expecting one of these munchkins to try and play a certain Draconiquis? (sp?)

Big Mac is a Feral Earth Pony?! I nearly fell out of my chair!!
Bronymous 10th Apr 2012, 11:40 AM edit delete reply
So this whole arc is just them trying to figure out their characters? And I assume just as soon as that happens the session will be over and they won't ever actually get to play.
XandZero2 10th Apr 2012, 11:55 AM edit delete reply
I think you're on to something.

Otherwise, it would be pretty difficult to create a comic where Trixie, MDW/Big Mac/Owlouicious, and whatever else they pic (my money's on Iron Will) are all working together in the same time and place.

But then again, that is something I'd like to see.
Nickel Storm 10th Apr 2012, 4:28 PM edit delete reply
Minotaurs are a playable 4e race.
darkwulf23 10th Apr 2012, 8:54 PM edit delete reply
I have an alternate theory. The boys are trying to get away with grey area characters so often that the main 6 and the DM say screw this, you're getting three fillies who don't even have their cutie mark and have to spend the whole campaign trying to earn them. Either Nat is going to be PO'd that the boys ruined her background novel character and caused her to play a filly with them, or relieved that they are now playing on the same level. It's my working theory because can you name three other characters that show up together and have enough screen time to make a campaign? Course Brony's theory is probably more likely.

Spoiler alert encase you haven't read Grand Line:

Nat's character in the comic is a normal well rounded character surrounded by a bunch of min maxers that are so over powered that the DM has to use his own overpowered villains to even hurt them. Unfortunately that means Nat's character is now underpowered and playing out of her league.

Calling it now: Owlicious is a psion of some sort.

Or some kind of shapeshifter.

So we submit the script for approval and then if you approve it we provide the art/screencap content afterwards?

Okay, I need to go back and find Dragon Trainer's post on screencapping comic creation.

DM: Alright, so you're going to drink it?
Cory: Yeah, they're just fillies. It's not like it's dangerous.
DM: ... Riiight. What's your Will?
Cory: Why?
DM: *evil grin* I hope you don't mind roleplaying a stallion under the effect of a love potion.

If someone doesn't take this opportunity to do something with Derring Do, I will never get over it.

She said it herself, "Another day, another dungeon." I swear, they made that episode specifically with this comic in mind!
HopeFox 11th Apr 2012, 3:07 AM edit delete reply
I'm still having trouble processing the strange alternate universe where Snips is more overpowered than the Mysterious Mare Do-Well.

This character probably explains what happened to Berry Punch's house in "Hearts and Hooves Day".
Zarhon 11th Apr 2012, 4:39 AM edit delete reply
Imagine a character with a built-in vorpal natural weapon (considering cutie mark critical sucess effects) that works on almost anything. I'm pretty sure that's what he built Snips into.

Dayum, the comments sure died down lately... I mean, I have the excuse of being up to my neck in a jolly fun cold, but you guys have NO excuse for not spamming these pages full with funny stories!
kriss1989 11th Apr 2012, 3:05 PM edit delete reply
But, but who will pick the topic for us to tell of our glorious misadventures and regale each other with our humerus barbs of wit?
Bronymous 11th Apr 2012, 6:08 PM edit delete reply
Nothing to talk about. Comic commentation is down to those who read Grand Line, and can actually speculate on the characters. I've been trying, but really, there's nothing for me to go on right now.

As for the stories, I'm pretty sure we ran dry a while back (I know I did), and if no one can think of another topic...

masterofgames 11th Apr 2012, 11:26 PM edit delete reply
Heh heh, Oh I've got stories. More stories than I know what to do with, and seeing as the answer is usually, "Post them online" that's sayng something.

But the key is pacing. The story must be told in responce to a somehow related tale. This ensures that the whole thing turns into a game of one-upsmanship, ensuring we all get more entertaining material as our competitive natures drag stories out of us that we swore would never see the light of day again.

As well as let me add things to my 'in game To-Do List".

Heh heh heh...

Yay, got me an account for commentatin'. I get the feeling these three will get stuck with being the CMC, just because of their terrible characters (thank god my group is never this bad).

I do have a bad bard story, so one person in my group loves puns, let me tell you he loves them to a fault and usually makes characters who I have to set limits on to silliness. His character kept trying to swim on land (I guess it was a joke?) until he eventually flopped over the side of a cliff coming within 3 hit points of death on a bad roll. Lets just say he doesn't think bard is an excuse to be totally random anymore.

"All commenters are equal, but some commenters are more equal than others".

BAM! modified Animal Farm quote out of nowhere!

And yeah, I'm the same as some of the above: I've got tons of stories but they have to be relevant to the present comic, otherwise I would just be spamming stories without rhyme or reason.
Brony Is Magic 12th Apr 2012, 4:02 AM edit delete reply
Oh, I know, I just happened to be one of the most frequent commenters. It's because I have no life.

I seem to recall early on when someone pointed out the "Devoted Commenters" on this comic, and your name was not among them. I think the rest of us here were.
