Turns out I already used the "new Rainbow Dash" line ages ago. But the followup with Spike worrying "that won't end well" takes on a whole new context with Barbarian Dash, which makes visiting the joke still worth it.

Notice: Guest comic submissions are open! Guidelines here. Deadline: February 20th.

Poor Spike. Barbarian Dash is gonna be all the rage over his little dragon hide. XD

Twi is holding a reasonable discussion here with AJ. This is nice. Worlds better than all the yelling, and opens up the idea of introducing season 3's final episode in screen caps.

It really is nice, also it's no coincidence that once another party member contributed some kind of idea or something into the whole "Kill the chaos god" thing, Twilight calmed down a lot. She was definitely frustrated with the apparent futility of feeling like she was the only one trying to solve the main plot.

If Fluttershy gets Honesty, and Twi and Rainbow are both uncursed and therefore retain their original Elements... Rarity can be either Loyalty (to Tom) or Laughter for how absurd she's been acting. Since Loyalty is already taken by RD that means she gets Laughter and Pinkie and AJ must therefore be Kindness and Generosity.

Hmm...I was going to say Applejack should be Kindness, both because of a fanfic I read and because of the "kind lie" thing, but then I remembered it was an explicit curse in this version. Although no one has really had the chance to be generous here.

Pinkie's certainly been generous with all the military advice she's been dispensing (didn't Rarity literally have a line like that in the show, something about "giving reasonable demands"?).

Anyone remember where Spike has been killed before? I recall it happening on one page and the DM going "It's fine, he'll respawn."
andreas002 27th Nov 2018, 8:21 AM edit delete reply
Not exactly that, but the 401 page commentary has this:

"I would mention that Spike is a magically bound minion that would respawn if sacrificed to the hydra, but somehow I don't think that's crossed any of the players' minds here."

I think he died in the fall during the first arc, after the manticore. Not sure, though.

No, Spike fainted after seeing Nightmare Moon. He never entered the forest.

Is it just me, or did that
"Good luck with the chaos god."
sound a lot like
"Have fun stormin' da castle!"

As long as none of the horses are named Miracle. ;)
Solitary Performance 28th Nov 2018, 9:33 AM edit delete reply
But, Digo, surely only a Miracle can save them now? (cue horse whinny in the distance)

This is making me think of... THIS:

When the pet is more intelligent that his own master.... Spike was wise rejecting the offer in fear of Rainbow Dash...

Any story of how the pet/summon was more wise that the master or negated to obey a order in fear of what someone of the party could do?

In one DnD game I was in, my weasel familiar ended up being the one with the highest Climb score, so we ended up using him as a scout whenever we encountered trees.
Warlock 28th Nov 2018, 2:20 AM edit delete reply
In a pathfinder game, I was playing as a witch whose familiar was an otter. Using it as a scout onboard a ship by swimming over to other vessels and spying was all fine and dandy, but the biggest event was when I couldn't reach our downed barbarian.

This game was odd; we were each given a CL20 artifact at level 1, yadda yadda, and mine happened to basically grant me a number of small boons, but also some lightning skills I otherwise never considered using. I was a debuffer and the like. And being part of the kit, my familiar could deliver spells, but it also gained a copy of it's own to use.

So, amid a pirate raid, this little otter races over to one of the larger orcs rushing on board, and tazes the sucker like a cute version of Emperor palpatine, before rushing over, and slamming a rock on the chest of our barbarian in makeshift CPR.

It was single-handedly one of the strangest moments in our career, to the point we became a travelling brewery known as Lucky Otter while we quested to smite a god's shard.

Never try to impersonate the Barbarian. They might sit back and make you charge into the fight in their place.
Thud 28th Nov 2018, 10:09 AM edit delete reply
Honestly If I were Twilight I'd probably be considering retraining that feat considering how little use she gets out of Spike in combat.
