DM: Well. Now that you've left a fiery crater behind you…
Smolder (RT): It's fine, they were illusory anyway.
Gallus (RD): I am… SO proud.
DM: Yona.
Yona (FS): Eep! I mean… smash?
DM: You feel watched. By dozens of tiny, beady little eyes, shining red in the dark.
Yona (FS): <gulp> Giant bats?
DM: Uh, no.
Yona (FS): Giant spiders?
DM: Closer.
Yona (FS): Venomous spiders?
DM: Umm… probably not?
Yona (FS): You mean just… normal… spiders?
DM: Yeah. But, like, LOTS of them.
(beat)
Yona (FS): Yona not understand problem.
DM: Maybe I undersold it a bit…
Love being the only non-arachnophobe in most given situations.
Now, just about anything that buzzes near my ear can get obliterated, thank you.
It's a bit late, but we finished another mini-campaign, another Spudventure! Hark to the finale of our murder mystery!

Also, whoops! We passed by the anniversary of the comic about four pages ago! Friendship is Dragons is now... eight years old! Wow!
Notice: Guest comic submissions are open! Guidelines here. Deadline: February 20th.
Wasps, on the other hand, take too much interest in my lunch and are slow about taking the hint when I shoo them away. I wish they would just buzz off.
Wasps are just jerks, so I destroy them with thorough application of force.
I don't have any bug fears... Disgust is probably more like it. But I live in a very bug-infused state and have broken a few brooms chasing off changeling infiltrators. :/
I used to be cool with spiders until one bit the missus between the toes and she was hospitalized for 3 days (not seriously, but they were digging toxin sacs out for the first couple)
After that I was no longer cool with them or anything else and started going after every little vermin within my 4 walls with a vengeance.
That sounds painful! Was it a spider venomous to humans or did she just have a bad reaction? I feel pretty lucky to live in an area with no dangerous spiders and no venomous snakes. The worst thing we've got are yellow jackets.
If they're spiders, they're venomous (thank you for using the appropriate term, everyone always puts poisonous and I know it's a minor pet peeve but they have venom not poison) that's just how spiders work.
Whether their venom is *dangerous* or not is another matter all together.
The komodo dragon, possibly. From what little I've read, it may be venomous - it has venom-style glands, but they compounds they produce seem to serve more as an anticoagulant than anything else.
However, from other things I've read about them, specifically about their hunting style, I would say they do have an actual -poisonous- bite - from that same source, the cause of death in the deer that are their prey seems to largely be gangrene caused by the rotting remains of the dragon's previous meal. They bite, the prey gets away, and the dragon eventually tracks down the corpse and chows down.
This reminds me of one of the scariest monsters in Pathfinder- the Deathweb. It's the undead husk of a large sized spider animate by hundreds of hundreds of smaller, malicious, hive minded spiders.
have fun with THAT arachnophobes!
How about this? Parasitic spiders! Their poison paralyses the victim, they eat it alive inside and control the hollowed victim to get close to others of its kind.
8 years? Pretty soon you'll be as old as the show's retirement, and you can stop.
I wonder what the next entry will be?
"You know, now that we've played the next generation of students, do we really want to go back to the old characters? "
/ "What if we jump ahead to the final battle, when you all save Equestria from the united attack of multiple enemies?"
Now, just about anything that buzzes near my ear can get obliterated, thank you.
