Love being the only non-arachnophobe in most given situations.

Now, just about anything that buzzes near my ear can get obliterated, thank you.

It's a bit late, but we finished another mini-campaign, another Spudventure! Hark to the finale of our murder mystery!
Murder In Jumpspace: Podcast | Video

Also, whoops! We passed by the anniversary of the comic about four pages ago! Friendship is Dragons is now... eight years old! Wow!

Notice: Guest comic submissions are open! Guidelines here. Deadline: February 20th.

Yeah, I with you there Spud.
Walking into their webs is the only thing I don't like.
But something buzz near my ears, I freeze.
ANW 8th Aug 2019, 6:25 AM edit delete reply
Let's have some spider stories.

I only know a Russian song about giant boss spider, there is one in every game.
JoeHow 8th Aug 2019, 6:38 AM edit delete reply
Called it!

Spiders are friends.

Wasps, on the other hand, take too much interest in my lunch and are slow about taking the hint when I shoo them away. I wish they would just buzz off.
Digo 8th Aug 2019, 9:27 AM edit delete reply
Wasps are just jerks, so I destroy them with thorough application of force.

I don't have any bug fears... Disgust is probably more like it. But I live in a very bug-infused state and have broken a few brooms chasing off changeling infiltrators. :/

I used to be cool with spiders until one bit the missus between the toes and she was hospitalized for 3 days (not seriously, but they were digging toxin sacs out for the first couple)

After that I was no longer cool with them or anything else and started going after every little vermin within my 4 walls with a vengeance.
Brigid 9th Aug 2019, 7:12 AM Yikes! edit delete reply
That sounds painful! Was it a spider venomous to humans or did she just have a bad reaction? I feel pretty lucky to live in an area with no dangerous spiders and no venomous snakes. The worst thing we've got are yellow jackets.
Digo 9th Aug 2019, 9:57 AM edit delete reply
Brown recluse is fairly common in my area. Luckily they live up to their name and stay out of sight as long as you don't go looking for them.
FanOfMostEverything 8th Aug 2019, 8:15 AM edit delete reply
Happy belated FiDiversary!

And yeah, spiders are fun. As long as they aren't biting me. Which they tend to. I am apparently delicious to most arthropods.
T 8th Aug 2019, 8:29 AM edit delete reply
Spiders kills mosquitoes, that makes them my friends.
BBkat 8th Aug 2019, 11:50 AM edit delete reply
'Venomous spiders?'
'Umm...probably not?'

If they're spiders, they're venomous (thank you for using the appropriate term, everyone always puts poisonous and I know it's a minor pet peeve but they have venom not poison) that's just how spiders work.
Whether their venom is *dangerous* or not is another matter all together.
Newbiespud 8th Aug 2019, 12:34 PM edit delete reply
Did not know that! Interesting!
DanielLC 8th Aug 2019, 2:09 PM edit delete reply
Not true. The family Uloboridae isn't venomous. But it's generally a safe bet that a given spider is venomous.
Guest 8th Aug 2019, 2:18 PM edit delete reply
Now I'm wondering if it'spossiblefor animals to be poisonous instead of venomous.
Rakaydos 8th Aug 2019, 2:24 PM edit delete reply
If it bites you and you die, it's venomus. If you bite it and you die, it's poisonus.

So any of those brightly colored frogs or similar are poisonus, not venomus.
Guest 8th Aug 2019, 3:25 PM edit delete reply
“You are being attacked by poisonous spiders”
“Well I wasn’t planning on eating them anyway”
T 8th Aug 2019, 11:03 PM edit delete reply
It could be a contact poison, the kind that gets absorbed through the skin or release a poison gas.
Dakkath 8th Aug 2019, 3:34 PM edit delete reply
What if I bite it, and it dies?
Darkgloomie 8th Aug 2019, 3:54 PM edit delete reply
Then you're actually a venomous snake. Or a spider. Or even a platypus, though those only have venom glands in their hindclaws
LordOfShadows 8th Aug 2019, 4:45 PM edit delete reply
Or you’re carnivorous
Digo 9th Aug 2019, 9:59 AM edit delete reply
Unless it dies, but comes back from the dead as your thrall. Then you got a different situation.
Guest 8th Aug 2019, 5:03 PM edit delete reply
I think the traditional answer is "What big teeth you have."
Guest 8th Aug 2019, 5:40 PM edit delete reply
The komodo dragon, possibly. From what little I've read, it may be venomous - it has venom-style glands, but they compounds they produce seem to serve more as an anticoagulant than anything else.

However, from other things I've read about them, specifically about their hunting style, I would say they do have an actual -poisonous- bite - from that same source, the cause of death in the deer that are their prey seems to largely be gangrene caused by the rotting remains of the dragon's previous meal. They bite, the prey gets away, and the dragon eventually tracks down the corpse and chows down.
Darthmalice 8th Aug 2019, 5:40 PM Deathweb edit delete reply
This reminds me of one of the scariest monsters in Pathfinder- the Deathweb. It's the undead husk of a large sized spider animate by hundreds of hundreds of smaller, malicious, hive minded spiders.
have fun with THAT arachnophobes!
T 8th Aug 2019, 11:05 PM edit delete reply
How about this? Parasitic spiders! Their poison paralyses the victim, they eat it alive inside and control the hollowed victim to get close to others of its kind.

8 years? Pretty soon you'll be as old as the show's retirement, and you can stop.

I wonder what the next entry will be?

"You know, now that we've played the next generation of students, do we really want to go back to the old characters? "
/ "What if we jump ahead to the final battle, when you all save Equestria from the united attack of multiple enemies?"

Next thing you know, you're jumping to season 9.
