Guest Author's Note: "There's a lot of different joys to be found in Roleplaying Games. Some people like the interesting moments and fiction that arise from a shared piece of storytelling. Some like the mechanical complexities and variance, the same joy as building or watching a complex piece of machinery working. Some like the power fantasy, or the escapism, being something else for a little while. Some like the intrigue and drama, exploring situations whose consequences would be far more painful in real life, but are tolerable in the theatre of the mind.

And some people just enjoy spending time with loved ones, be they friends or something more.

(NOTE: This is RT and AJ, not Rarity and Applejack from the main comic. Their relationship is not emblematic of the relationship between Rarity and Applejack in the canon. But gosh-darnit, if I'm writing a fan-work of a fan-work, I'm allowed one terrible moment to be myself.

Also, I refuse to apologize for Dash being totally on fleek, fam.)

Story Time: What do you like about RPGs?"

Newbiespud's Note: Another Spudventure update, too!

More then one way to conquer obstacles.

Interesting enough, my least favorite thing is Options.
Too many choices.

Ah, the dreaded Analysis Paralysis.

Ah, that explains a lot. this game is being played by Rarijack shippers.

Hey now, that's an unfair argument.

It's being written by a Rarijack shipper. A very important distinction for Thermian reasons.

(To be clear, I am making a joke with that last post, not trying to pick any kind of fight. The author note makes it clear where I stand on my indulgence.)

Between Character Building/growth, Worldbuilding, the sometimes Improv level of group storytelling I have quite few things to like about RPGs Dinn. But the one I'm most happy for is being able to leave my mental hangups at the door. Depression and the Autism spectrum blend together far too well. I do sometimes get to tell my table stories whether it be in fiction or just as a recollection.

I like character building and the ability to solve problems in more... out there ways.

That's why I like more freeform systems. D&D is a /bit/ to restrictive for me sometimes.

I just like the ability to role play someone heroic who can with the heart of someone, or find their fortune, or just make a nice difference in a town's life from bad circumstances.
