Guest Author's Note: "So yes, Catacombs. It's a Dexterity based board game about delving through a dungeon, where your movement and attacks are performed by flicking discs across a little battlefield. It's super neat! Some other fun dexterity based games in the vein of this are the Dead of Winter Edition of Flick 'Em Up, Crokinole, and Cube Quest (which partially inspired the previously mentioned soccer rules.)

While I'm a big fan of RPG groups, I do think you need something more than that to prevent long-term issues. RPGs can fall into the trap of "too much of a good thing." If it's all anyone expects to happen, the days when one person just isn't in the mood become a massive drag for everyone."

Any story of some adventure that everyone decided to swear to "never talk about that"? Mainly because it did go very bad

Well if we told you there wouldn't be a point to "never talking about it"

There ain't no rule that you can't type about it.

Well, I have a story in an Aberrant game where the DM decided that one of the obstacles to our investigation should be a clown orgy. Actually, he decided to do that MANY times.
We think he did so in some insane attempt to hit on one of the players...specifically, my girlfriend (now wife), in her very first tabletop gaming experience.
We don't game with him anymore.

Digo Dragon
Will a board game suffice? Because I played the game Forbidden Island and we lost the game before the first player even finished drawing cards for his turn. It ended that fast as a TPK.

Oh, haha, I see the little trick with the page titles.

I had a Shadowrun mission to sabotage part of an arcology go perfectly well until we were detonating the explosives we had placed. Unfortunately the massive amount of explosives we had used reacted with some Awakened material we didn't even know about, and created a self-propogating explosion that resulted in the birth of a dragon made of pure radiation.

We were the only survivors in the entire arcology, mainly because I (the rigger) had made it a personal goal to have the fastest food truck in existence and a cargo jet on standby.

We all agreed that if anyone asked, we hadn't made it to the arcology when it exploded, and even if we talked about it amongst ourselves we would pretend we nuked the arcology.

We never got paid for that job either.

This one is actually about a player we don’t talk about anymore. He cheated constantly, was antagonistic to everyone in character, and kept ruining our plans, then blaming us. Example: walking down a trap laden hallway that we all knew was trapped, not making any attempts to disable anything, preferring to rely entirely on his reflex saves. Then he started yelling at me for not preparing enough healing spells.

So yeah. We left that trash fire to burn out somewhere else.
