Guest Author's Note: "Not much to say today. I usually save these author's notes for last, and uh, won't lie, it's been a really hectic and frustrating couple of days. Some generally not great news on top of my usual workload, plus my school workload coming back in a way that isn't...super great for my general style of learning/working. I'll get by, but it's just a lot to deal with all at once.

Thanks for your patience and understanding!"

Story Time

So yesterday was April's Fools Day.

What are some good pranks you and your friends do around the D&D table?
Scissors Rock Paper 2nd Apr 2020, 7:17 AM edit delete reply
Told my players that I'm gonna run Tomb of Horrors.

Half of them were too young to recognize the name. So I ran it, Save or Die and all.
Digo 2nd Apr 2020, 7:50 AM edit delete reply
Eh, no prank I can pull off ever compared to my group's ability to do the absurd all on their own initiative.

Give an ogre a few levels in monk. They'll think you're kidding when he runs circles around them on the wall.

Digo Dragon
My old group managed to pay their 2,000gp property taxes by moving a flying castle over the tax collector's house and dropped the entire payment in one lump sum. Paid in copper pieces.

They dropped two tons of copper on his house?! That's awesome!

Take care out in Chicagoland Dinn.
Take care of yourself too!

This also means the portal will close before the fall formal happens and the GM has to retcon when the portal closes because they gave the players a hard deadline.

No, this is Sunset!GM trying to strongarm them into a heist like she planned for at the start.

"Oh no! I've completely routed your plan because if you try to pull it off now, it'll be too late!"
BackSet 3rd Apr 2020, 9:09 AM edit delete reply
This will, of course, fail because Twilight is *this* close to converting them into true players, who completely screw up the gms plans no matter what.
Khyrin 3rd Apr 2020, 6:44 PM edit delete reply
Or, y'know, Twilight pointing out that "Oh, okay. SMASH AND GRAB, My princess will offer you amnesty GO GO GO GO GO!"
Scissors Rock Paper 3rd Apr 2020, 6:52 PM edit delete reply
Twilight Sparkle, the Old Man Henderson of Equestria.

Not sure. Trashing the gym doesn't address any of the characters' objections to the idea of a heist, and it doesn't create time pressure or raise the stakes. I think Sunset-as-GM is improvising and trying to invent an obstacle the party will accept and respond to rather than try to further Sunset-the-antagonist's temporarily nonexistent plans.
Scissors Rock Paper 4th Apr 2020, 2:41 AM edit delete reply
Sunset did say they weren't going to push the heist and the only character it puts pressure on is Twilight. Twilight is going to have to convince the girls to help clean up the place and push the dance back to tomorrow night.

Huh, I'm caught up? I didn't think that was possible. Little strokes, I guess.

So, how's everyone doing amid the apocalypse?
Scissors Rock Paper 3rd Apr 2020, 2:05 AM edit delete reply
On the one hand, working nights means I'm getting paid to read and watch TV. On the two hand, I haven't said a word out loud to another human being in weeks. And on the three hand, I can't find anyone awake to game with. Overall, been better.

Maybe you can find a game with someone in a different time zone?
