Twilight Sparkle: In that case... I guess Twilight would be pretty excited to see Cadance again. And to hear that Shining is marrying her. Though also kind of nervous if she even remembers me at this point.
Pinkie Pie: You'll be fiiine! I'm sure a Princess-in-training like her didn't foalsit for just _anypony_! You must've been pretty special yourself!
DM: It's time to find out. As Twilight and Shining are walking and talking through the palace, who else should they bump into but Princess Mi Amore Cadenza herself? Take it away.
Princess Cadance: I think it's more likely she bumped into them while they were talking. Cadance stops, stares for a split-second... assesses the situation... and then says: "Huh? Oh, hello."
DM: ...Great start.
Going to be interesting how I'm supposed to build tension when the cat has already been out of the bag for... Nope, nope, not even gonna look up how long it's been since the Season 2 finale. Nope.
Notice: Guest comic submissions are open! Guidelines here. Deadline: February 20th.
How might the tension be built up if we already know the original story...
Here's an idea: This Cadance isn't Chrysalis. Instead, the queen of changelings has disguised herself as... rolls dice... Shining Armor! The strange behaviour Cadance will show is simply an effect of being drained.
That's been thought of before. It's kind of too bad, since once you stop to think about it the plan would have made more sense if Crysalis were trying to replace Shining Armor. She needs love and here's a stallion getting married to the Princess of Love. Shining Armor is the best target in Equestria.
*Unless* Cadance's abilities as Princess of Love include the ability to directly observe love being drained, and perhaps also give her a degree if resistance to love draining. Then the changelings would have to replace her, or she'd blow the whistle on them in an instant.
That might make more sense as a plan, but it wouldn't have made sense after establishing the security bubble. As soon as Chrysalis had Shining out of the way, the invasion could begin in earnest.
Don't want to make yourself a victim to burnout and then start railing against the "PC culture" and become a veritable fountain of racist or misogynistic epithets.
oh man, now I have the desire to make an NPC who rails against PC culture. I guess that would be murderhoboism, and pretending that bystanders can't hear intraparty conversations?
Might want to look into dnd aangvanced for that, the korra side of that goes much more in depth but it touches on the idea during last airbender as well.
I'm curious to know how (or if) Cadance-player is going to roleplay this, and a bit anxious for the party after the OOC debacle of Discord. There's something in me that really doesn't like watching even fictional characters in a "nobody-believes-me" situation.
I wonder will the cat being out of the bag actually make it harder to build tension?
Or will the Hitchcockian principle of the bomb under the table apply where since we the audience knows that the bad thing is about to happen it will allow the building of suspense and thus tension much easier? Do that principle even apply to webcomics when they are read page by page a few times a week instead of all in one go?
Tension isn't the same as surprise, so it'll be fine.
Two takes I think could happen now: the "Shining knows she's the Changeling Queen" one I mentioned in the past, and "it's Twilight who keep defending her to the rest of the players as an olive branch for her brother, only to be disappointed"
