It's the bread-and-butter of the comic, but even nine years later I just love love love parodying events from the show just by reversing the intents.

In the show? "Oh wow, the Princess asked us to be the bridesmaids? Don't really know what happened to the old bridesmaids, but we don't really care! Princess Wedding!"

In the comic? "Okay, so can we get the old bridesmaids fired so we can become the new bridesmaids and have no one else standing between us and stabbing?"

Notice: Guest comic submissions are open! Guidelines here. Deadline: January 27th, 2023.

"Okay, so can we get the old bridesmaids fired"
Yeah, that makes a lot more sense than Fluttershy's player suggesting they get rid of them via intimidation, violence or kidnapping, which is how I read that initially.

I'll be honest, the intimidation and kidnapping options didn't even occur to me. When a player suggests forcibly vacating a position, my immediate reaction is "Okay, where's that full character sheet I made specifically in case this happens?"

I assumed she meant bribing them because the old bridesmaids didn't seem that enthusiastic about going to the wedding to me.

I need to play in your games because my first thought was, "convince Cadence to get rid of them."

As I understand it, bridesmaids are usually picked from among your closest friends. I wonder how Cadance knows those three?

Too bad Two wasn't good friends with Lyra or maybe she'd of learned about her bother dating Cadance earlier than she did.

I have a headcanon in which Twilight does know the bridesmaids, in that she’s the one who introduced them to Cadance.

I mean, Lyra, Twinkleshine and Minuette are Twilight's old friends from Celestia's school before she came to Ponyville, and Cadance was Twilight's foalsitter, I guess it makes sense she'd know them through her, or perhaps she even foalsat them as well.
Anvildude 27th Aug 2020, 2:40 PM edit delete reply
That may in fact be how those three got to know Twilight, even! Playdates arranged by the foalsitter!

Seems a heck of a lot more plausible than the other way around.

And yet none of these friends gossiped about Shining Armor getting married? Twi had to learn shortly before the wedding day? XD
Auren Dawnstar 28th Aug 2020, 9:55 PM edit delete reply
Twilight did kind of forget about them when she moved to Ponyville, and didn't really reconnect with them until well after the wedding.

I've always hated cringe comedy, so I welcome the idea that the other five abandoning Twilight might in this case be a cunning plan to sucker not-Cadance.

...Having looked it up, I must agree, cringe comedy is just so... So... So... *cringe* I can easily see myself on the receiving end, being the butt of the joke, as it were, and... And... *cringe*
