At the end of the dramatic aria duet, Shining Armor turns to the camera with a look that can only be described as "horrifyingly goofy," while in the split-screen shot, the camera zooms out on Cadance until she is a speck while she wails her last measure about how her fiance will be lost to her forever.

That's a literal description; that's a thing that happens in this show.

Anyway, we've got another Spudventure up today! It's actually the season finale of The Forgotten Ones as our D&D campaign goes on hiatus (and a new thing to-be-determined will take its place in two weeks!).

This is perhaps the best MLP song in the series run. At the very least, the one song I get earworm'd with more than any other. Even it's Literal Music Version gets good.

In my opinion, that song made the episode. In what was a blatant merch tie-in, that song - one voice, two VERY different personalities - gave weight and stakes to the events.

These episodes were really a turning point for me. A lot higher stakes than anything else that came before. I loved this song too. It finally knocked Winter Wrap-up off the top spot for my favorite song.

It was an earworm for me too... Also I remember earlier comparing Twilight's getting along with and missing her brother to my getting along with and missing my brothers...and my oldest brother was about to get married...
And then I was like 'oh but she is not evil unlike the episode'. But then she did turn out to be evil... (extremely abusive)

One of the most awesome things about this song is that the fake Cadence's lines are sung such they end not with the expected tonic as dictated by the flow, but a different one. This is known in music theory as a "deceptive cadence". Basically, the song is pure genius.

Not just that, but Cadence's lines end in a "true cadence".

Another great part: an "aria" is supposed to be a song for a *single voice*. Normally, that would exclude duets, but there's *only one voice* here!

I am sorry, but I have to respectfully... Agree one hundred percent with that sentiment.

This is the first time I've noticed that Cadance wings has a purple tint to them.

I remember when we used to joke that she was an OC because of her unique coloration.

Speaking of the aria, who else is hoping someday the players actually engage in a musical number? Yeah, before you discount the possibility, consider the following options:
-Pinkie's player brings up a chorus to the catchy tune of some pop song they all know, and everybody feels motivated to join in
-They organize to sing something to motivate a player who is on the down low (which could also be Pinkie's)

They are both well within verisimilitude parameters. In fact, I've seen at least the first happen in more than one table.

There have been songs or song-like things in the comic in the past, but it really doesn't come across well in this medium. The most you can get is written lyrics with musical note symbols floating around. Music can't carry any emotion without actual music.

On the other hand, if you know the tune by heart, you can (at least, I can) get a pretty good sense of the effect of a new set of words for it.

"I used to wonder what gaming could be....."
