I’m actually a bit interested to see how the DM represents the changelings’ shapeshifting in meat-space, and keeps players knowing who they are while not necessarily knowing who the other players are. Do some of the tokens have player-shapeshifts on the back?

I think you've the right of it, except its not just some, but all of the minion tokens having the "I'm one of you!" sides; forcing the players to do what they can to keep track of themselves and the other players. I'm also willing to bet that this is one fight where there's going to be a rule preventing the players from telling each other which one is them so the chance of hitting each other is always on the table. Honestly, this is a really interesting setup. I'd love to play such a combat, as it forces everyone to pay attention enough to avoid friendly fire; I've played in a few groups where there's at least one person who slows everything down because they don't pay attention during fights except when its their turn, often having to be told a replay of everyone else's turn, only to *then* take forever to hmmm and haaah over what they're going to do instead of having an idea already in place by the time their turn comes back around.

Whether or not this is the angle the comic ends up using (it probably is), I am *so* stealing this for an encounter some time.

At a guess, the DM is going to use differently colored Starbursts for minis. There's enough different colors that all the players should be covered, they come in large enough quantities that there should be enough for the changeling horde, and clean-up is a breeze because the players get to eat what they kill.

Happy new year everyone.

Let's hope 2021 will be better than 2020. I guess it should not be that hard...

Wait did I jinxed it ?

Not yet. You have a year, more or less, to keep trying.

Fireball sure would be handy/hoofy about now. :3

Really any large area affecting damage and/or crowd control spells would be very, very tasty here. Though I agree that fireball would be particularly satisfying.

No, no, what you need is Fire Storm. Seven ten-foot cubes arranged however you like solve the issue that the target area is a ring around the PCs.

How, in the name of Elvis, did we not get the big bag of skittles for this?

plus, you have a color for each pony and alllll of their duplicates. Everybody gets candy.... I mean, wins!

Funnily enough, Skittles were also my first thought when I saw the comments yesterday.

Taste the rainbow, indeed.
