WaitWHAT?

OK, granted, The Magical Mystery being Discord's fault is an awesome idea. And I totally look forward to seeing what the PCs do with each others' roles. But the end result ... now?

Yes, the comic has been running for ages now, but it still feels early to go to, what would this be, epic level? I think they're still 14 or so.

Regardless, I'm sure it will be awesome. And you have just surprised me to the same extent that the Magical Mystery startled the fanbase back when the episode first aired, so you're off to a good start!

Keep in mind what happens in the remaining seasons. If all of that takes them through level 20 and then epic, then I can see this being around level 14.

Yeah, the next arc's worth of comments sections are gonna be fun.

Looks like the development discussed waaaay back here is coming to fruition. Looking forward to it.

There is joy in a beautiful plan.

Or to making a terrible plan work despite its fundamental flaws. My group's more familiar with that one.

Or making a beautiful plan and having something better pop up and switching to that!
...One of my groups had that happened recently. We were planning to sneak onto an airship and steal the power source (a god trapped in a gem), but then realized we could steal the ship after most of the crew were scared off.

ah the old "Ascend to godhood" trope... My all time favorite...

...and yet I despise playing Exalted, try and figure THAT one out.
Otterfriend 9th May 2021, 8:34 AM edit delete reply
Maybe because it makes it too easy? I feel like godhood is one of those things that should have to be earned by efforts above and beyond the call of duty.

Honestly my singular experience with it was awful, people threw me into the deep end with naught but hyperbole and the most basic and memetic of summaries to go off of with the absalute thinnest understanding of the tone, themes, groups and the nature of powers I was going to be dealing with, a jackass forced the DM with under the table dealings to let him have the...race?... I already called based on a summery(I honestly don't remember which, but we were doing a one-of-each thing), rendering me with the last option left which kinda shot the character I came up with in the conceptual foot...

And all I knew of the setting was dinosaurs pissed Meth and the Overdieties played World of Warcraft so much they were useless... I had no idea what anyone was doing, what was going on, how to behave in this world(apparently me being afraid to fuck with a water God was mock worthy), the plot we were doing was somehow tied to lore from one of the books no one explained to me, and everyone but me decided to be a secret traitor.

And one other PC constantly made my life a living hell, and seemed to specifically direct shit to try and make me leave, and when his insults started turning into us arguing, we were both kicked, and the game died like two sessions later, because two if the remaining three PCs were basically his stooges... He killed a lot of games with Undertable politics deals, and strong arming...

Honestly I was only IN the game because a friend begged me to play with him more(and in his defense, probably thought it was a good fit for me, what with the power fantasy), and was considering leaving anyway...

Same guy nearly killed WoD for me too, in a vampire game, basically the Princes problem solvers, we all decided on a less murder-hobo at of doing things... But he was convinced being a vampire meant you had to act like Vlad the Impler and constantly whispered me insults for being a "shitty vampire" and "dragging the game down"... When we decided on a peaceful solution to a mission, he tried to force us to go his way with Dominate and we all killed him, and he had a absalute meltdown, declared his next character was going to be built just to kill me (I didn't even fight, my girl was a Diplomancer), before the DM just straight up banished him from the game.

Not the only WoD game he ruined, but both times he died, and then killed the game by coercing other players into leaving...

I mention that part to give context to the kind is dickhole that lead the charge in making me hate Exaulted... It's all just confusion, disappointment, frustration, and a general feeling of grump now...

WoD is probably my favorite system, I've been in historical, modern AND sci-fi stories in it, it's flexible as all hell, and despite being pretty lethal, is way easier to follow and understand the world...

...even when you use fa books that add Leviathans, magical girls, mad scientists, Giants, and Kung-fu masters to it.

One friend of mine even made custom rules for stands and Hamon users, that feel right in like with the stuff from the Hurt Locker book.

Huh. Maybe I wasn't paying attention, but I really thought this was gonna be Keep Calm and Flutter On. I'll be interested to see where this goes.

So... We jump from Chrysalis to Alicorn Twilight... I guess Sombra is left for later?
Prairie Son 10th May 2021, 1:17 PM edit delete reply
The whole Crystal Empire thing would be kind of hard to do, since the players for two of the major characters live elsewhere. Although this version of Twi would be even more fun to watch with the New Aunt meltdowns.
Guest 11th May 2021, 5:37 AM edit delete reply
Is not like Shining Armor or Cadence do much during the Sombra episodes, so they could come a couple of minutes and leave or go using the phone or Skype.

I for one what I want to know is if Sombra will be the usual GM or another guest GM/Player
KtarraMoon 14th May 2021, 4:58 AM edit delete reply
Maybe Discord!DM runs Sombra.

We're coming up on 10 years for this comic.

10 years, you guys.

It's been a hell of a ride, Newbiespud. Thank you for all the entertainment.
