Writing a little bit from experience here. "I have actual significant difficulty taking care of myself; you want me to ensure the welfare of another living being??"

Anyway, the callbacks are getting ridiculous now.

Notice: Guest comic submissions are open! Guidelines here. Deadline: January 27th, 2023.

I usually pick wolves when I play a druid. Mostly cause they fit better in the overhead compartment on your train ride.

I have a thing for bobcats. Which can actually fit into a backpack with a little luck.

Gods help the person who opens it.

Foxes are more my style, although they’re not exactly combat animals... Though, on that note, nor am I.

Winged Cat
The last time I played a druid-like character, I had a housecat. A perfectly normal-looking, unassuming housecat...that nobody would notice even in the most guarded settings.

In the epic final battle, the housecat went kaiju-sized. That got noticed.

Ferret's, all my druids have ferrets... wait, not those are Wizard Thieves.

The only Druid I've ever played was an Orc Druid who went some "Primal Size" type path and had dinosaurs for Companions. Good luck fitting an Ankylosaurus in the overhead luggage or a backpack.

Well, there's the Disney Robin Hood, which I believe was based on Reynard.

Always assume the druid has a bear, can become a bear, or both.

And I'd forgotten about Angel's earlier incarnation. Very nice callback there.

Dash, I'm sure she was going to have a full list of her animal friends eventually. You just need to...

*looks left*

*looks right*

BEAR with her.

*escapes through the secret hatch*

This is starting to get grizzly.

As a druid who used pack tactics with the other druid and a gnoll fighter, yea beware the animal companions.

Opal is Rarity's cat, isn't she?
Composer99 22nd Jul 2021, 5:26 PM edit delete reply
In the show, yes. Can't recall whether Opal's been introduced as Rarity's cat in the comic.

I'm in this Author's Note and I don't like it.

That's not a callback, that's keeping in line with established continuity.

Dashie has the correct reaction to realizing your in the same room as a bear.
