Basically, I couldn't come up with something I liked better than canon (and that wouldn't end up looking cribbed from someone else's comment), and the more I thought about it, the less I wanted to. I actually kinda like it! And I think it works better here than it does in the show.

Notice: Guest comic submissions are open! Guidelines here. Deadline: January 27th, 2023.

I was a bit worried there. It seems like Twilight's player was getting into the trap of overthinking things, but it looks like she made it through. Yay!

Or did she?

Nothing like an ominous "is that your final answer" to make someone second-guess.

True, but often it needs to be said just to get the player to stop waffling and commit. Saying it with sinister undertones is just icing on the cake

As the sequence (in comic) has been posited to be something caused by Discord's magic... Welcome Discord's worst nightmare -- Twilight NIKE Sparkle <G>

That wouldn't happen to have been my comment, would it?

If it was, I'd be honored!

I'm a big believer of "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery" as well as the idea that rarely is there something "completely original" in the sense that it came out of nothing. Almost everything comes from something, and to quote Newton, "If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of Giants" because in science, in cultural borrowing, in arts, we bounce and borrow things from each other to create ever more beautiful masterpieces (and a lot of duds). And it's not like I have a financial interest or stake in seeing it not get copied, lol.

I do like using the canon's original phrase and explaining it though. 'Tis a staple of webcomics about D&D of shows/TVs/movies!

Ah yes, one of the most dramatic periods in all of fiction. Congrats, Twilight, you just leveled up from roleplaying XP.

Now we'll get to see, does Twilight get her wings in the comic or not?
There's room for it to be done, and if it's not done now then I'm not sure when.

I wouldn't be surprised if it happens on Page 1600.
