(Twilight descends and reappears in Ponyville)
Twilight Sparkle: ... Well. I still seem to be alive, and myself. So that's good news.
Applejack: Is there anythin'... immediately obvious that's different about 'er?
DM: There's just one major change from the Twilight you all know.
Applejack: Which is...?
DM: The pair of *alicorn wings* at her sides.
Fluttershy: Oh my gosh!
Applejack: Huh. Well ain't that a neat trick.
Pinkie Pie: Oh, so THIS was the secret plan! I get it!
Rarity: *<GASP!>* ^Twilight... A *Princess*...?!^
Rainbow Dash: Good luck reworking your whole build around your new racial stats.
This scene is from season three (which was only a half season of 13 episodes, giving the show a total of 65 episodes at the time -- the common amount for syndication [5 episodes a week, 13 weeks => aka, one quarter of the year]).
There's over twice as many episodes in the following seasons.
And there are still plenty of screencaps from pre-alicornhood that don't show Twilight's sides (or have her wearing something) that Spud can still use.
After reading silently for many a month, I'd just like to say that out of all the "let's make this popular media franchise a D&D campaign" comics I've read, this is the only one I've really stuck with. I feel the characters, I feel the players, I feel the growth and development that's going on...this is what Darths and Droids wanted to be.
Whatever you might say about the episode as a whole, I thought this moment played really well. The first time I watched it, my only thought at this point was, "Twilight's been great, she deserves something nice."
Longtime reader, first-time commenter, and I just had to leave a bit of applause for the "Twilight Princess" reference when I saw that no one else seems to have done so.
Oh, and it happened on a nice round page number like 1600! Delightful!
