Why did Discord put on a police uniform in my reinterpretation of the scene, you ask? Honestly, I'm so beyond rationalizing any of this.

I've got it!
He's in a police uniform because he's "the bad cop" striking up a deal with a wanted criminal!
SteekResolve 16th Jun 2022, 6:05 PM edit delete reply
He's already done bad cop, now he's doing good cop. He's offering the carrot.
Freelance 16th Jun 2022, 6:24 AM edit delete reply
He's the fashion police! That cloak is so grungy.

Because chaos

Implicit threat that he'll throw Tirek back in Tartarus if he doesn't cooperate?
Spoony Viking 16th Jun 2022, 6:52 AM edit delete reply
To be fair, a cop striking a deal with a criminal for the advancement of their own goals seems very on-brand.
Digo 16th Jun 2022, 10:08 AM edit delete reply
Yeah, that's a bit too on the nose in my experience.
Godzfirefly 16th Jun 2022, 7:23 AM edit delete reply
My initial reading was that the cop uniform implied an exaggerated NYC police accent, like when Roger Rabbit put on a cop uniform and handcuffed Eddie Valiant.

Clearly he's illustrating his own impending return to incarceration should he not succeed here. Or maybe he's matching the theme set by Tirek's shackles? That shot does make a solid beat cop scene independent of everything else and that 4th wall lean is solidly in Discord's court. Meh, just play the meta-DM and accept the best suggestion anyone offers.

Considering my own experiences with cops include seeing one taser an eight year old having an epileptic seizure for not obeying him to stop having a seizure,* seeing that arrogant jerk dressed as one was not surprising.

And I'm pretty sure that last panel is Spud having Spike-GM give Discord-GM a warning about betrayal that will get ignored.

*My experiences also include watching a state trooper arrest said cop for harming the girl.

Sweet Luna's crotch-tits, I hope that cop lost his badge! Tasering a CHILD who was HAVING A SEIZURE?! In WHAT universe is that EVER okay?!
Prairie Son 17th Jun 2022, 2:10 PM edit delete reply
This one. The surprising thing is that there wasn't gunfire.
Newbiespud 19th Jun 2022, 11:54 PM edit delete reply
I'm more surprised that there was any consequence at all for the cop.
Chakat Firepaw 18th Jun 2022, 4:17 PM edit delete reply
The same universe where a cop can jump out of his just stopped police care and shoot dead a child with a toy gun in about the time it took you to read this.

The uniform is both to show who is in control, threaten to send back to tartarus and to show the inherent chaos of the system!
and better Discord pay more attention about The story of Scorpan....
A Quiet Reader 16th Jun 2022, 7:23 PM edit delete reply
Everyone's talking about the police uniform, meanwhile I'm just here enjoying the Tirek facial expressions.

Well, knowing what I do of Discord, my guess would be:
1: For the irony.
B: For some obscure reference (or not-so-obscure reference that's going over my head).
III: Because why not?
Or 2+2: All of the above, because Discord.
