I guess ultimately my problem with the original plan isn't its overall tactical soundness, but the incidental fact that it involved taking away Twilight's agency in the process. The power came with a deeply conflicted mandate attached. (And from a storytelling perspective, that was the point - it was supposed to feel wrong for the sake of narrative shorthand. Ultimately, the other alicorns needed to be wrong about going it alone and Twilight needed to be right about putting her friends first.)

...Also, apparently this webcomic is going to be on its 11th anniversary next week?? And I'm going to be turning the big three-oh several weeks after that? Time is nuts, man.

Notice: Guest comic submissions are open! Guidelines here. Deadline: January 27th, 2023.

Time is implacable, Spud. No matter your desires, it will not speed up or slow down. It will just continue grinding relentlessly on.

What, next week won't just be your second in a long line of 29th birthdays? ;)

I didn't realize (or else forgot) you started in your teens.

Welcome to your third decade of life. I've been here about three years now, it's not so bad.

Am I missing something in the punchline? "Twist my rubber foreleg?" I've heard of "twisting your arm," but never "twisting your rubber arm." What makes her rubber?

Have you SEEN how these ponies bend their legs? Anatomical verisimilitude is more of a suggestion than a mandate in the show. For one thing, real equine pasterns don't rotate like human wrists.
Newbiespud 21st Jul 2022, 7:23 PM edit delete reply
It's not very hard to twist your arm (meaning coercion) if it's made of rubber.
Jennifer 22nd Jul 2022, 5:38 AM edit delete reply
Ah, so she's saying it's easy to twist her arm? That makes sense, as she's tempted to do this anyway. Congrats on eleven years, Spud. May there be many more.

yeah, normally a player would welcome an all-powerful power-up..but when there are such string attached, one should be careful...
also earlier congratulations for the 11Th anniversary and for you incoming 30th.

Once again uncomfortably reminded that I almost certainly have tabletop characters that are older than some of my fellow readers of this comic. Ageing sucks. Don't do it.

May this comic last as long as you have stories to tell through it, end succinctly when you need to move on and be remembered fondly for decades once you have done.
