The mental image of Discord handing a pony to Tirek like a candy bar to soften the blow before breaking some bad news to him is just an idea that amuses me, is all.

Yeah, kindof an interesting standoff here. Discord can't wait forever.

It's perfectly in character and Shining's character agreed to it over the phone, but something about Discord using Shining's character like that seems especially evil, heh.

Yup, looks like Discord is going to walk right into the Sudden Yet Inevitable Betrayal, blithely assuming he has the right insurance policy.

Heyyyy, if Tirek eats Discord's magic, would Tirek also get hit with the turning-to-stone curse? As that is *also* caused by magic.

It is possible, and it's equally (if potentially more possible) that it wouldn't. Consider the following:

Tirek is devouring various amounts of harmony magic. Discord is anti-harmony. A blast from the elements is just pure harmony injected into him. In this concept consider harmony the same as a radioactive capsule unable to be removed by said target. Tirek is sucking up all kinds of harmony, and such, the 'curse', is no different than how necromantic magic harms the living, but heals the undead. It's a curse to Discord, not to others.

Perhaps best supporting this is how Discord's Chaos magic is rarely handled by others, despite being taken from him, due to the incredible warping effects it has on anyone else. Thus, Discord is perhaps unique in all equestria, and abides by unique rules that normal beings (even tirek, but also chrysalis and others) would bypass easily.

So an standoff, Tirek don't know about Twilight nor where she is and Discord, both mistrust him and is in a turn against the clock, so to avoid the unavoidable betrayal some agreement must be made, I wonder if Tirek will lie about his bother's pendant saying something about "cant attack anyone that have it" as it needs lots of magic covatage and silver tongue to Convince DM Discord about it....

They're gonna both stab each other in the back.... while facing each other. ^^

Which seems like a perfect intro to an old nonsense rhyme

o/~ One fine day, in the middle of the night
Two dead boys got up to a fight
Back to back, they faced each other
Drew their swords and shot each other
An {blind/old?| deaf policeman heard the noise
And came and saw the two dead boys
... {I don't recall the concluding lines} o/~

Of course, if this is pre-renaissance (or even during the renaissance) Italy -- closely facing each other would be perfect position for shoving a stiletto into a kidney from the back... Granted, how many kidneys does a 'taur form have (pair in the upper torso and pair in the main body?), and where would Discord have his kidneys -- presuming a diety-level being even bothers with such (for all we know, based on the show, Discord's tea parties with Fluttershy could just be him tasting stuff which gets routed directly to some midden heap after swallowing).

The last two lines as I learned them were "If you don't believe this tale is true / go ask the blind man; he saw it, too."

I also learned the second line as "two best friends," but this kind of rhyme always has a million minor variations, so I can't claim my schoolyard experience was in any way definitive!

Oh, I remember that one! It goes a little something like this:

Friends, Romans, bald-headed countrymen,
Lend me your ears, for I've left mine behind.
I come before you to stand behind you
To tell you a story I know nothing about.
Admission is free, so pay at the door;
Pull up a chair, and sit on the floor.
One bright day, in the middle of the night,
Two dead boys got up to fight.
Back to back, they faced each other,
Drew their swords and shot each other.
A deaf policeman heard the noise
And came to kill the twice-dead boys.
If you don't believe this lie is true,
Ask the blind man—he saw it too.

Or at least, that's the version I learned growing up around the turn of the century. The tradition of nonsense poems goes back at least to the Middle Ages, and this particular "Two Dead Boys" one has been bandied about schoolyards for at least a couple centuries; see here for more info. https://literature.stackexchange.com/questions/2193/what-is-the-origin-of-this-contradictory-poem

As to the question of centaur anatomy, I default to the description given by C.S. Lewis in The Silver Chair: a centaur has both a man stomach and a horse stomach, each with different dietary needs, from which we can infer that the requisite organs for each must also exist in duplicate. Further questions, particularly involving centaur posture and respiration while galloping, are left as an exercise for the reader.

I wonder what Discord's relative strength is compared to Tirek at this point.

I missed the chance to make a stupid joke on the last page and now I'm sad.

You didn’t miss your chance. Add your joke; I’ll see it on the reread!
