Of course, in the actual show, Discord and the ponies had been tentative allies for a season and change, but in this scenario, they're still actively enemies. Which makes these screencaps of Discord showing up with snacks a weird quirk I've got to write around.

The fun challenges of adaptation, everyone!

I'm curious what Discord's reaction will be when he's told that Twilight is in another castle. He'll probably receive something to the tune of "well you didn't ask/roll perception"

I'm more interested in his reaction when the Actual GM has Tirek drain Discord GM's powers. Something along the lines of the student becoming the master is obvious, which is why I suspect we won't see it. I figure it's 50-50 whether he'll be proud or the twist or annoyed at getting upstaged.

He's going to be proud of his mentee putting one over on him and embarrassed that he didn't predict this ahead of time and do more to avoid it. Discord the character would be deeply annoyed, though.

I would be completely tickled if the drain happens because someone like Dash or Pinkie put the idea in GM/Tirek's head to do it.

Danggit, you did it too early! Tirek has screamed yet!

I mean TBF a god of total chaos would absolutely offer their enemies a meal "just because".

"Be unpredictable, even in predictability."
Got to keep them on their toes. Unless they predict you will keep them on their toes, then don't. Maybe.

...Quote was a tenet from a chaos/insanity god I did a follower of once. I don't know why the party did not trust me more than the Lawful Evil character who stabbed the bartender as his first action. I was so *nice* to them. I even helped the local paladins find a murder suspect! (the LE character) ...I then valiantly defended my party member when paladins attacked.

Probably because trust is essentially a prediction of not being betrayed. If someone is so unpredictable that you cannot make that prediction, then trust is impossible.

After all it's not because they are enemies that means that they can't share a nice sandwiches once and while.

So... Should they have no warning? No throwing dice? anything? Just Discord put them in a cage... I could think a little unfair of the DM to not give them a chance
Newbiespud 12th Oct 2022, 3:52 PM edit delete reply
In a real tabletop situation, yes, they should have a chance. In this narrative approximating a tabletop situation, sometimes it flows better to gloss over descriptions and rolling.

Not to mention, there are some games where this is even a mechanic - the GM gets to have an undisputed narrative action in exchange for tokens and other forms. So while this system might not specifically be capable of having that, it's not unheard of that fiats happen.

Another fun detail that we only see in screencap narratives like this - Fluttershy's focus on the sammiches!
