I'm actually in kind of a similar spot to Fluttershy here lately. I don't watch much TV or movies, but I've been listening to a lot of podcasts that watch and discuss TV and movies, and that's strangely satisfying for me when it's something I probably wouldn't want to sit down and watch in full anyway.

(For those curious about my listening habits, ordered by increasing density of content warnings: From Rewatch With Love (James Bond), Bizarre Podcast: Dogs Must Die (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure), and Great and Terrible AHS (American Horror Story).)

Notice: Guest comic submissions are open! Guidelines here. Deadline: January 27th, 2023.

Geez, Discord, you gonna mope any louder, or are you just having sour grapes?

He's had his ration of cheese, so now he makes with the w(h)ine.

Somewhat ironically, he seems to be more invested in the game right now than any of the regular players are.

Discord reminds me of the problematic player type I've had that cannot let go of the spotlight. And if they mess up their scene by their own actions, then they get all mopey like the game was stacked against them.

It was a third party module I was running-- think of the NES game Shadowgate. In the basement was a long hallway with several burned and crushed bodies. At the far end was, in the shadows, some creature that looked like a dragon.

Our annoying player casts fire resistance and saunters down the hall to fight the beast.

And triggers a trap that causes the opposite walls to crush him.

The dragon wasn't gonna do all the work (incidentally, this trap kept the dragon in the basement too, since the hallway was too narrow to just fly over it.)

Great final line.

This remember when aa begin of session in my house that after the groups discovered that two players never saw any Monty Phyton's movie, we stop the game and immediately begin a marathon. After all proper reverences education came before a game..xD

I’ve never seen it, but even I know that’s from Ghostbusters. Or, one of them, at least… Though, maybe that’s from TV Tropes…

The original Ghostbusters is a classic, no doubt, but like basically all 1980s comedies, it does have some parts that don't hold up that well.

Worth a shot? I'm very curious how many players have actually attempted to parlay with the final boss of their campaign.

I'm also curious how many DM's actually let that happen.

Surprisingly more often than one might expect - Depends on the group of course, but a fair few have managed to not only let the monologues happen, but also attempt reconciliation. The bigger trick sometimes is to ensure it's actually the final boss, and not the dragon, that they're doing this to. It's one thing to get the sympathetic subordinate to help boost their final fight, a whole different one to deal with the guy in charge of it all and generally talk it down without someone knocking the wall down before its all over. It's also more prominent in the social games more than the crunchy games, as many of those have more dire consequences for being injured, outnumbered, etc...

I can attest two at least two attempts in my GMing career that the party attempted to parlay the final boss. One was incredibly rediculous, but the other was quite earnest - though they failed to really stick the landing, it was quite refreshing that they nearly had a solution.

Them wanting to edit a Ghostbusters compilation for Fluttershy is absolutely adorable. They could just go find clips on Youtube, but making their own? Man. That's delightful.
