Author Notes:

Newbiespud 28th Nov 2013, 5:00 AM edit delete
If you've been reading these Author Notes often enough, you know that I find voice acting to be one of the more difficult tools in the DM's arsenal.

Vocalizing sound effects, on the other hand, I find much easier and just as effective if well-placed.

Oh, and Happy Thanksgiving to us in the US!

Hmm... Cerberus?

Voicing sound effects can just never be done seriously enough for some groups. Onomatopoeia is just hilarious! Plus it usually comes out as something completely inhuman. Maybe there is someone, somewhere, who can accurately describe a large monster's footsteps with noises from their face.

I like to think those BOOM!s stand for the reaper horn sound from Mass Effect.
Digo 28th Nov 2013, 5:15 AM edit delete reply
I always thought those should be more of a "Bwoooom" kind of horn, like the one used in all the recent movies.

I'm thankful that Australians don't take every single opportunity to have some holiday, event or reason to get out of things.

Just most of them ^_^

LOL Thanksgiving is one of the two truly legitimate historical American holidays, though, along with Independence Day. It's not something the govt made up out of nowhere, so it gets a pass from the "too many holidays" complaint, IMO.

Anyway, I'm thankful to be in the US and not someplace like Syria right now. All my problems are so exceedingly trivial compared to what much of the rest of the world has to deal with.

"LOL Thanksgiving is one of the two truly legitimate historical American holidays, though, along with Independence Day. It's not something the govt made up out of nowhere, so it gets a pass from the "too many holidays" complaint, IMO."

Actually, Thanksgiving would have died off back in the early 1700s if it wasn't for a writer and editor named Sarah Hale. Basically, she was sick and tired of the industrial revolution jeopardizing good old-fashioned American values, so she campaigned for the return of Thanksgiving for seventeen straight years. Eventually, her letters to Abraham Lincoln convinced him to pass legislation establishing Thanksgiving as a national holiday on the last Thursday of every November.
Night Sage 29th Nov 2013, 10:21 PM edit delete reply
It's not last Thursday. It's every 4th Thursday of the month. There have been instances where November has five Thursdays, like we will have in 2017. It'll be on November 23rd, not November 30th in the year 2017.

I'm thankful for fair-use agreements that let fun little things like FiD come to pass.

Actually, if Hasbro really wanted too, and be a huge dick about it, they can shut this comic parody(spelling?) down if the maker of this comic, doesn't have permission to use the copyrighted material. Said material, are the images that are being used, since they are ripped, straight from the show.

I'm thankful to live in Canada, where my birthday never coincides with this holiday.

I am thankful for my nephew and nieces and their patience with the crazy old man that is their uncle. I am thankful for these years in which they still think I'm cool.

I am thankful for all of the things in the past assuring me that the future will also hold its share of treasures.

I am thankful for friends, family, food, ponies, and bronies, specifically the wonderful community they form that becomes a family all its own.

I am thankful for food, my family, and my right to own sharp, pointy objects longer than my arm.

I am thankful to live in a country where I don't have to worry about the thought police arresting me. (Unless I'm on a college campus, apparently.)

I am thankful for my many gifts of wit and humor.

I am thankful to live in a country where I can express and practice my sexual preferences freely, without significant persecution. Except from the ignorant masses.

I am thankful to live in a country where my dog won't be destroyed by the state, based on an ignorant and foolish superstition that the breed makes it evil.

I am thankful for my many loyal subjects here in these comments. You make your king proud.

I am thankful for the right to own a steel tube with a handle, that ignites an explosion, and fires an ounce of metal at my enemies.

I am thankful for my other gun, which helps me shoot fleeing suspects and get free dvds from best buy.

I am thankful for ky jelly, which helps me store the gleaming silver gun with a minimum of discomfort.

I'm thankful for creativity, and that covers TV shows, movies, books, writing in general, plays, music, music videos, and all those things that life would be totally boring without.

I am thankful that Friendship is Dragons has become so moderately popular, letting me continue to have a steady creative release in my life. I am thankful that running ads is actually somewhat viable, and I am especially thankful for everyone who has donated via PayPal!

Above all, though, I think I'm most thankful that DoubleCross is still in my life. I don't know what kind of person I'd be without her in my heart.

I'm thankful for D&D and RPGs in general. I am also thankful for friends, family, pets (which count under both), ponies, cats, alligators, books, manga, imagination, pesto, the cold weather coming to kill my allergens, cooking, having excuses to give things to others, and more.

I am thankful that I can feel thankful. My brain developed the ability for feeling thankful a short few decades ago. Sometime in the indefinite near future, it will stop working and I shall not feel anything at all, but right now I am thankful that I can feel thankful this instant.

I am thankful for my friends and family, who have been amazing for me and my life. I am also thankful for my cat, who has helped me in so many ways, and who always makes my day a little brighter. As a third note, I am also thankful that I have the license to be myself, as I am currently commenting on a brony D+D webcomic, writing a pokemon novel for fun (never tried anything remotely like this before in my life), and contemplating playing a game in my one person foosball league. These things might sound very weird to some people, but the fact that I am allowed the freedom to just do what I think is awesome and then make something I consider awesome is something I appreciate a lot.

Happy Thanksgiving everypony!

A day later, that first panel reminds me of a sound effect "DOOM!" used a few decades ago by Walt Simonson in Thor, and later as an homage to him (in which Louise Simonson was involved) leading up to "The Death of Superman".

It also makes he hear: "I'm gonna sing the Doom song!"
