Angel's one of my favorite supporting characters in the show.

There, I said it.

And Applejack is still best pony.

Notice: Guest comic submissions are open! Guidelines here. Deadline: January 27th, 2023.

Angel's okay, if you're into that sort of thing. Personally, I'm a Spike fan.

I dunno, if I had to pick, then I'd actually have to go with Riley. Or, if we're stepping outside the boundaries of canon, maaaayyybe Faith, but whatever floats your ship, man.

CMC, Mane 6, Princess, and Villains, taken care of. So here's the next.
Favorite Mane 7 (counting spike's)pet.
Opal, Tank, Wynona, Angel, Owllouis, Gummy, and Peewee.
Me: Owllislious
Guest 21st Dec 2013, 10:49 AM edit delete reply
Owloysius. Just because I care deeply about the spelling of that name.

But seriously, Owloysius is pretty cool, though Peewee would probably win if he were a bit older.
Tatsurou 21st Dec 2013, 12:16 PM edit delete reply
Tank, because he never quit no matter what, and since becoming Rainbow's, he always has that super happy goofy expression on his face. That, and he shows us Rainbow's secret soft side.

...sudden mental image of RDxTank shipping fic involving Tank transforming into a pony...or into a TMNT...or not transforming...and probably exists simply from the act of me typing this, doesn't it?
Destrustor 21st Dec 2013, 2:48 PM edit delete reply
It probably existed way before you thought of it.

I'm pretty sure I saw a fic shipping him with Princess Celestia once. Tankbow would be even less surprising.
Akouma 21st Dec 2013, 9:53 PM edit delete reply
Peewee because phoenixes, man. Seriously, phoenixes are my favorite mythical creatures. It's a bird made of fire that when it dies bursts violently into even more fire and resurrects itself from the ashes. What more could you ever need?
darkwulf23 21st Dec 2013, 11:16 PM edit delete reply
Yea, I remember Peewee. One episode he's here, another episode he's gone with only a few pictures. I saw those pictures and my sarcastic reaction was "Thanks for unringing that bell".

My players have lost so many animal companions and familiars. Some say a Druid's animal companion can be a powerful ally in D&D 3.5

I say 'better have a cleric on hand to rez' XD

Guest 21st Dec 2013, 5:34 AM edit delete reply
In my 3.5 campaign I'm a druid and my hawk companion has like 3 times the health I do.
Result: hawk fights way more than the druid.
DracoS 21st Dec 2013, 8:24 AM edit delete reply
A ranger I played with had a trained raven following him (back story said it was his deceased master's familiar) as we were infiltrating a captured embassy. Almost immediately after we got in the place, we set off a trap that rang giant bells around us, temporarily defeaning us and scaring the raven away.

And every time we needed a room scouted or a small object retrieved, we'd always grouse about not having a trained raven around to do it for us. =p

In one of our MLP3.5 campaigns my group's cleric was really attached to summoning a Celestial dog, who he immediately named Looshkin. (he came up with it verbally but didn't know how to spell it, so we spelled it phonetically)

Looshkin had an unfortunate fate of dying pretty much immediately whenever he was summoned, though not always uselessly so. The poor dog was crushed, bitten into by a dragon-esque boss, fell through the clouds and either hit the ground below or despawned in midair... yeah. The carnage only stopped when the Cleric himself died.
Glowing Friendship Eyes 21st Dec 2013, 11:51 AM edit delete reply
In one 3.5 campaign I was DMing, one of my members decided he wanted to play a shaman after looking through my collection of books. Like rangers, they get an animal companion at a later level. He chose a hawk. The only problem is he treated it like a familiar. As in, completely forgot he had it until it was absolutely necessary.

One session, the group has had to climb up onto the roof a this prison to stop a group of necromancers from busting their leader out. There were a few regular human zombies, three necromancers, and one zombie wyvern. I wasn't expecting them to really win the fight, just take out some zombies, capture a necromancer and extort him for info.

The first round of combat I remind the shaman if he wants to use his animal companion and he says "Oh, right, just have it harass the spellcasters." So I position it over the one casting the spells (who of course happens to be the second in command) and readies an attack if he starts casting again. On the first spell, the hawk rolls 20-20-20. This means, at least in our rules, the roller scores an auto-kill. So the bird swoops down and tears the necromancer's head clean off.

He never forgets that bird anymore.

In any D&D game I've been a part of, the most memorable animals are the familiars for the spellcasters. We had three:

Shadow: Sorcerer's familiar, best known for being used to disable traps when the rogue has been incapacitated. Yeah, the sorcerer puts a few buffs on the cat and then throws it, hoping it'll live. O_o

Freakin' Crow: My brother once played a wizard in 2e and he summoned a familiar expecting some kind of cat or dog. The name was because the GM described a crow trying to land on him and he kept shooing it away. "Go away, freakin' crow!" The name stuck. :D
The crow was useful for holding some of his material components.

Freya: Pony familiar that had a fun attitude and always wanted to be a part of combat. The wizard hated combat, so they had a fun argument whenever there's a fight going on. Freya had a huge AC compared to the wizard too, which just made it funnier.
Tatsurou 23rd Dec 2013, 10:13 AM edit delete reply
It would have been so poetic if Looshkin killed that cleric.

I ran a game for my cousins, ages 4 & 6, last week. The elder made a Dwarf Sorcerer (I houseruled away the stat penalties, since it was his first char amd he didn't roll too well for stats) and his little brother made an elf druid. Now, here's the thing - the sorcerer treated his owl familiar like a companion, having it fly around trying to claw people's eyes. And the damned druid had a cheetah that he had try to kill the owl.
Once they were both unconscious in pools of their own blood and their critters were glaring at each other over the bodies, I had the guard pick them up and release the dwarf to quest while the 4yo watched Hulk... when he got back, he got a Nat 20 to bust out of jail, turned into a monitor lizard, and went on a rampage that wasn't stopped until the villagers organized as a Gargantuan Swarm, forcing him to take damage from torches & pitchforks while he shared space with the swarm.

And that's Angel climbing out of Fluttershy's tail. Do all ponies have Hair of Holding?
Grtgfbll 21st Dec 2013, 6:26 AM edit delete reply
If you look in the upper-left corner there, you'll see a sliver of Fluttershy's ear. And yes, they all seem to have Manes of Holding. Pinkie uses her's all the time, Fluttershy only uses her's to transport animals, and Twilight has only used her's for parasprites (at least in the show, seeing as she blew them up when they showed up here)
