The next Fallout is Dragons is being uploaded pretty much when this page goes up, so this link will work in an hour or two.

Also, for those of you who might have been concerned by the delays of FiD and the slightly depressing nature of my Notes this last week, here's a blog post basically explaining where I'm at right now.

Notice: Guest comic submissions are open! Guidelines here. Deadline: January 27th, 2023.

Yay! Instant party, just add adventurers :D

Today is my birthday, and so I was thinking about past campaigns and we used to do for players who's birthday fell around one of the sessions. Often this meant cake and ice cream, but like, for the game itself?

Well, I'm sometimes a nice DM, so I used to hand out "coupons" to the birthday player. Usually redeemable for one reroll or instant success. So naturally the loonies in the group would try to do something completely silly and cash in their coupon for that. This is the reason why we have a story of how the king lost his pants in the middle of a speech. :3
Razomyure 15th May 2014, 6:34 AM edit delete reply
I've picked up something like that from one of my old DM's. Whenever a player has a birthday or a major holiday rolls around, I pass out a coupon to whomever is celebrating that basically says "screw the rules, I'm doing this." Basically, they can DM for their own actions for one round in combat, or succeed in whatever they decide they're going to do as long as it's within reason. The only definitive rule is nothing used to negatively affect other players, even if the character in question is a plant or something.

Also, happy birthday, Digo!
Specter 15th May 2014, 7:30 AM edit delete reply
I got no birthday stories, because, well, the birthday players day is usually replaced with going somewhere and doing something.

Anyway, Happy birthday Digo.

"The story of how the king lost his pants in the middle of a speech". That would make for a great birthday party.

BTW, happy birthday Digo!
Draxynnic 15th May 2014, 8:07 AM edit delete reply
I'm wondering now if that happened because the character in question didn't like the king, or whether they liked the king a little more than was appropriate...
Digo 15th May 2014, 8:10 AM edit delete reply
Thanks everyone!

If I remember the story correctly, the players had completed a quest to slay an evil cleric and disperse his cult following. The king was one of those hard-nosed rulers that don't like his citizens thinking too much for themselves, but he wasn't evil.

So the king is speaking in front of the court when the PCs show up with proof of vanquishing the cleric. PCs are in a bit of a rush here so the rogue (who had the birthday coupon) declared that in order to speed things up he's taking the king's pants. Cue a moment of silence from a stunned group. I think about it, shrug, and accept.

Rogue walks up behind the king, somehow yanks the royal pants off without effort, and the king finds himself with a cold breeze down there in front of his court of advisers.

This clears the room promptly and the PCs complete their transaction. XD

The bonus was that the king left the room immediately after, which left the rogue with the royal pants. The rogue kept them and strutted in some fancy pants for the remainder of the time they spent in that kingdom.

Oh! My apologies for not noticing earlier! Happy birthday.

Happy birthday! Have a present from me to you!

It is a good gift. You will like it!

Happy birthday, Digo. May you never be left wanting for a good comeback.

Or many happy returns. That works too.
Digo 15th May 2014, 6:29 PM edit delete reply
Thanks all!

Zuche, I can always use more snappy comebacks. ^_^ Heehee

Happy birthday!.....I am so late on this.
Digo 16th May 2014, 4:47 AM edit delete reply
Pshaw, I'll take late over never. Trust me, when you have local friends who never visit, never call, and don't even poke you on your birthday anymore, you learn to not worry about a little tardiness from those who still talk to you. :)
guy 15th May 2014, 6:53 AM edit delete reply
I called for story time over at the legendary pixel crew, so I'm not going to do it here.

…It would be cool if someone else did it, though.
Jannard 15th May 2014, 7:50 AM edit delete reply
Ouch Spud... I'm totally with you. I have been there (technically, the part where one's feeling he failed in life, I am still there).

If it makes you feel any better, what little you have shown of yourself through your work in FiD and your comments, I find you're quite an ok fellow, with a balanced outlook and a hefty amount of potential.

...I know, it would probably make you feel better if I had money to give instead of words, lol. But I'd like to have any spare money as much as you do, heh.
Draxynnic 15th May 2014, 8:09 AM edit delete reply
Yeah, I know where you're coming from myself too. Hope things start looking up for you soon!
Specter 15th May 2014, 10:12 AM edit delete reply
Anyone who hasn't or isn't in a time of (negative mood here), raise you arm, leg, or whatever.
Newbiespud 15th May 2014, 11:07 AM edit delete reply
Way to put our pity party in perspective, Specter.

Ooh, now that was a lovely sentence, wasn't it?
Specter 15th May 2014, 11:30 AM edit delete reply
Yeah, I tryed to delete that the second I sent it, knowing just how dumb it was, so... yeah, school computers suck.
Raxon 15th May 2014, 11:41 AM edit delete reply
I feel ya, Fuzzball! You should really get that lump looked at!

Yeah, I been there, and I ain't goin back, even if I have to stepford smile my way through.

Coming from someone who missed literally ALL OF LAST YEAR of school due to depression... yeah, we hear you, Spud. Good luck.
Destrustor 15th May 2014, 2:54 PM edit delete reply
Coming from someone who is also imminently losing his job, I know that feel too, Spud.
Lyntermas 15th May 2014, 6:05 PM edit delete reply
I was in a bad place a few months ago, but things have gotten better since then. Just know we're all pulling for you, Spud.
Digo 15th May 2014, 6:34 PM edit delete reply
Hoping everyone fairs better soon in life :o
Jannard 15th May 2014, 10:00 PM edit delete reply
You say that just because it is/was your birthday! I demand retribution. In the form of a pony themed duel.
Digo 16th May 2014, 4:49 AM edit delete reply
Nah, I'd say that on any day of the year. Everyone deserves a break!

A pony-themed duel? That doesn't involve Google image searches, does it? Cause I got into one of those and went to some weird places, let me say.
Jannard 16th May 2014, 10:55 AM edit delete reply
I was thinking more around the lines of using FiM lessons and wisdom instead of actual guns or bladed weapons. Although a bit of pony figure flinging might be involved if worse came to worse.

I also really don't want to go back to those places around the internet...
Specter 15th May 2014, 3:49 PM edit delete reply
I'm back from school!

Double past today for two reasons (duh).

1) Again, happy birthday Digo, I found

2) Now I feel bad for accidently staring the whole sad-fest from above, it only makes me sadder. So, I searched YouTube and found this!

Co-op Corner. (warning: Language)

I hope you all enjoy.
Digo 15th May 2014, 6:36 PM edit delete reply
Cool links! :D
Newbiespud 15th May 2014, 6:53 PM edit delete reply
Ah, to be clear, you didn't start the sad-fest. I very clearly started this one. ;) No, I was just saying that your statement of "Hey, who hasn't had a sad period of their life anyway?" was a little bit of a slap in the face to the whole idea of being sad. Seemed like it, anyway. Now I realize that neither of us knows what was actually being said, so I think we can call it a wash.
Jannard 15th May 2014, 10:24 PM edit delete reply
It was a sad-fest? I thought it was more of a non-compulsory unsatisfactory mood exchange. That is, a formal sad-ball.

The internet-era business model of free entertainment in exchange for maybe crowdfunded donations + merch, sometimes? is a strange one. There are things I like about it, but I wish it weren't so harsh to the people who make awesome, obscure things.
XandZero2 15th May 2014, 9:20 PM edit delete reply
I may be a little late to the punchline here, but Happy Birthday Digo!

-Also, sorry to see you're having some rough times Newbie. I hope things get better for you soon.

wow.. beena while since I been back...missed a bunch...
one question, whats with the color coding of the abilities on the cast page?
Specter 16th May 2014, 11:45 AM edit delete reply
Here is me guessing.

Green- At will
Red- Encounter
White/clear- Daily
Specter 16th May 2014, 11:02 AM edit delete reply
Only just now realized this. The rest of the party seem a little too happy to see (mess with) Rarity.

I say this because I just noticed the gleam in their eyes. (Exspecially Twilight)
