Fancy Pants: I’ll vouch for these ponies. Ms. Dainty Dove will vouch for them. Surely that’s enough?
Rarity: Is it worth the certainty of reprimand once the Princess finds out you arrested the Elements of Harmony?
DM: Roll Diplomacy with a +5 bonus.
Rarity: <roll> 32.
DM: Jet Set and Upper Crust eventually, reluctantly, back off. The Garden Party starts to wind down, now that the event has been thoroughly crashed.
Rarity: <sigh> I turn to Fancy Pants and say, “Good game.”
Fancy Pants: Say what?
Rarity: Upper Crust was the target all along, wasn’t she?
Fancy Pants: Oh. Well, in a sense. I intended to rile her up, but you outright exposed her bullheadedness in public. Yes, “good game” indeed.
Rarity: This was a lovely evening. Thank you.
Fancy Pants: Anytime.
I expected yesterday, my birthday, to pass quietly with the usual well-wishes. Not so. I was greatly humbled over the last 24 hours, and my heart goes out to each and every one of you supporting me and my creations at this time in my life.
Enough sappiness. Have a light, talky inbetweener session of Fallout is Dragons.

"Take the blue pony, and you might just wake up in your bed, and you can believe anything you want to believe. Take the orange pony, and stay in Equestria, and see how deep the Angel hole goes."
I may be a day late, but I shall wish you a Happy Birthday and many more like them in the future ... and it would seem that somehow I'm the first to post a comment. And I think this comic is incredible for the humor and outright fun you manage to put into it!!
Oh nose! I forgot to wish you a happy birthday! In order to make up for it, have this Potter Puppet Pals birthday song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xy-4ykwGFDk
"my heart goes out to each and every one of you supporting me and my creations at this time in my life."
Dude, you and your comic is the reason I got back into DnD after being thoroughly convinced that I could never have an actual fun time with it. You really should be proud with what you got here. So again, thank you and Happy Birthday.
If it wasn't for the note Rainbow Dash got from the DM, I would of half expected this to be the comic where everything backfired for Rarity and Fancy Pants turned out to be some kind of undercover inspector for the secret police or something like that. But I am glad it ended all right.
Oh, and not only is Fancy Pants holding up little Applejack but it seems that he's got a little Fluttershy stacked on top of her as well. I expected no less from a fancy unicorn such as he.
The joke's not too complicated:
It's 'hoof' instead of 'hand' because it's MLP
And then the rest is just a standard 'You must be a thief, because you stole my heart' cliche.
I agree with J-eagle here. My favorite thing about these comics is how you play with the MLP episodes to make them into a DnD romp. Nowadays, whenever I watch an episode of MLP, I can't help but think about its implications for an RPG (and I find that somewhat amusing).
Again - hope you had a great B-Day Spud! Take care man.
I bet Twilicorn is the result of an 'Alicorn' prestige class that isn't supposed to be available until they reach epic levels, but Twilight's player happened to take the right skills and feats for it without realizing it until the DM decided to spring it on her.
...that makes so much sense, at least to my addled mind. Though the spelling 'Alicorn' still bugs me; oughta be 'Alacorn' for wing (ala) & horn (corn)... Alicorn's the tissue in unicorn horns. Though with all the derivatives of Latin, some must use Ali for wings.
Given the DM's note to RD and the lesson learned from the Bridle Gossip session, I'm assuming Fancy Pants is truly legit - the game here was to, as he put it, expose Upper Crust's bullheadedness.
Happy Birthday!
This comic is a whole lot of fun. It was this comic and "Story Time!" that inspired me to get behind the DM screen again. Hope things get satisfactory for you soon.
I'm kinda in neither camp there. I got into (then left) D&D because my then new friends were the only kids to play it in school and I wanted new friends (Having lost my old friend through a combination of them moving and one giving me the middle finger.) I'm only more recently getting back into it after a long hiatus (again, thanks to Spud and his comic.)
I got into MLP because I couldn't go to sleep one night and decided that the show would be a good insomnia cure. 5 am (I think) the next day I had finished watching all of season 1 and the 4 episodes that were out for season 2 and cursing the fact that it was actually good and definitely NOT what I needed for my now heavily sleep deprived brain.
So in essence, I read this comic because it's a combination of two things I like and it's witty/interesting/funny enough for me to stay with it. His Fallout is Dragons thing, though, did get me into Fallout and it's MLP fanfic counterpart, so there's that.
Jeeze, how many of us first gave it a shot during bouts of insomnia?
I got into D&D because of webcomics, though - this page's news post enraged me with my ignorance of a Geeky Thing, so I googled it and found the d20 SRD.
Been in and out of D&D for a while, diffrent groups, issues (Including one player having to be audited for adding gear and skills between adventures!).
I play a number of other RPGs as well, Rifts and Iron Kingdoms(Which I am just getting into).
As for MLP, joined shortly after season one started, was curious and found it most enjoyable, though I do have my less than favorite episodes. Even have a few plushies and some mini-ponies around my room, the mini-ponies hang out with my other figures.
Oh yeah, for Iron Kingdoms, I play Trixie Lulamoon, a human Alchemist/Gun Mage with a flare for the dramatic, talks in third person, most of the time, and is not exactly a good guy...not evil, but no where near Principled...more fun that way.
After reading the last panel a couple times, and coming back to this page multiple times, I'm still confused. Is the last panel's dialog between Fancy Pants and Rarity, Rarity's player and the DM, or both?
It's between Fancy Pants and Rarity for instead of the GM and Rarity's Player, obviously. The yellow speech bubble would have been a yellow text box if it was the GM talking as a GM instead of a NPC.
Doesn't make the thank you mean any less, just that it was an in character thank you.
