Princess Luna: One of the words you used… “Fun.” What does it mean?
Applejack: …Seriously?
Twilight Sparkle: Oh, that’s right! Assuming this world’s evolutionary linguistics mirrors our own, “fun” has only been around less than Luna’s been banished!
Applejack: Whatever. Basically, “fun” means-
Pinkie Pie: ♪ F IS FOR FRIENDS WHO DO STUFF TOGETHER ♪
DM: Nuh-uh! Stop that.
Pinkie Pie: Heehee!
Applejack: <sigh> Maybe it’s better to learn by doin’. What do we got for amusements around here?
DM: Well, there’s bobbing for apples, the spider toss, and the pumpkin chuck.
Applejack: Right. Carnival games. This may be harder than- Wait, did you say “pumpkin chuck”??
DM: I might’ve.
Happy Holidays, everyone! I'm spending this holiday season relatively alone and with very little ceremony, but at least I have all you internet friends to share the occasion with, regardless of where you are and what you're celebrating.
In the spirit of the season, I'm rushing out the newest session of Fallout is Dragons (and the minisession we recorded just last night) two days early!

Session 32.5: LibsynYouTube
And for those of you that follow my livestreaming on hitbox, I plan on doing a special Christmas gaming stream sometime later today, after my vaguely defined midday plans. (Surprise, it'll be Cave Story+ one more time with the Christmas palette!)
EDIT: Today's events went on longer than expected, so the holiday stream is postponed for tomorrow.
Notice: Guest comic submissions are still open until this arc is finished! Guidelines here.
I think today's poll should be appropriate.
What holiday do you celebrate?
And what are you doing to celebrate it?
Merry Christmas, and staying home with the exetanded family.
Not everypony watches Spongebob, but you get a good cluster of geeks, and it's a sure bet that Python* and Bride have been watched.
*especially Holy Grail, though Life of Brian and meaning of Life are also good. Bonus points for other Gilliam/Python films, like Munchausen or Jabberwocky.
HAPPY HEARTH'S WARMING, FELLOWS.
And Christmas too, if you're into that. On which note, my volunteer shift starts soon, so everyone: have a wonderful day, and eat something delicious.
Personally, my brothers and I celebrate Lootmas, the holiday of getting loot. Since my youngest brother has a 2 yr old, they have started celebrating Christmas as a family, but he still does Lootmas with us.
As a Brony, I do enjoy Hearth's Warming Eve, even if I had to work last night...but that's neither here or there.
Soo, to all here, Happy Hearth's Warming Eve and may you have a great year.
Oh, side note, do they have a New Years Celebration in Equestria? Don't think anyone's touched on that concept. I'm sure Rarity would whip up some lovely evening gowns and lots of cider would be consumed.
Yes. They call it the Summer Sun Celebration. Because they're organized enough to actually start their calendar on a solstice, instead of constantly missing it by ten days.
Remember to keep those birds moist, the bones away from the dogs, and most importantly, remember that woodchippers aimed at college students are not an appropriate method of disposing of witnesses.
I am not a fan of social interaction, nor do I like the thought of having to share my feelings to others I don't entirely like. To top off my Grinch list, I'm spending money for those people I don't like either.
But it's the holidays, and I'm doing this for peace on earth (but mostly for someone I care for).
Assuming evolutionary linguistics mirrors our own, English wouldn't be that old. It borrowed words from various languages, so it's possible that Luna could understand it, but she certainly wouldn't be able to speak it.
[pedantry]Twi's player misspoke slightly. It should be linguistic evolution (evolutionary linguistics is the theory of such, not the thing itself), and it's a specific detail that's being mirrored (the current definition of fun postdates Shakespeare/the KJV, which is what Luna's Royal Canterlot approximates), not the evolution in general. A form of English did exist 1000 years ago, but another language got grafted onto it shortly after that, so it has changed considerably more than many others. If we assume that Equestria didn't have a conquering nation imposing its own language and the rate of change was about half that of English, then Luna's archaisms are about right.[/pedantry] :)
I rather don't like saying "Happy Holidays." It's a phrase made from censorship and the fear of offending someone else. I may not celebrate Chanukah, but I still greet the few Jewish people I know by saying Happy Chanukah, and I went to my friend's Bar Mitzvah (which he also mentioned would be a good colt's version of the Cute-señeras, ponified as a Mark-Mitzvah).
I would rather everyone was comfortable with the knowledge that not everyone celebrates Christmas, and I'm also tired of Santa Claus, which I thought was exclusively a CHRISTMAS thing, used for "Happy Holidays" as a catch-all mascot. I now want to see a politically correct gift-giver wearing a santa hat, carrying a dreidel, and wearing and/or holding other paraphernalia from the other holidays around this time of year.
I hope you all had a blessed Festivus, raised a metal pole, dodged the brunt of the airing of grievances, and performed admirably in the feats of strength.
I celebrate Christmas, however due to my work schedule I've not spent one with my family since the beginning of the century. So to celebrate I choose one or two coworkers and buy their kids an extra present. This year I cause three little girls to go into fits with a plush Rainbow Dash, Applejack with her hat, and a Rainbow Rocks Princess Twilight Sparkle. The ponies are being spread.
