We're coming up on the end of the arc, so I'm casually opening up submissions for guest comics within the next three and a half weeks. It's going to be run like last time, where I also do another short comic-based arc, so I don't have nearly as much demand for guest-based content to cover the break. I feel like that was a happy medium last time.

Notice: Guest comic submissions are open! Guidelines here. Deadline: January 27th, 2023.

I think we all know what the DM would have said.
Which MLP character do you think is the DM.
Me:either Spike or Discord.
ANW 14th Jul 2015, 6:09 AM edit delete reply
I think I feel it.
Nope just gas.
(And yes I will do something like this every time)
Newbiespud 14th Jul 2015, 6:19 AM edit delete reply
Maybe don't. Maybe just take the first comment with quiet dignity.
Digo 14th Jul 2015, 6:44 AM edit delete reply
Definitely don't. It only comes off as annoying. Stick with your first post. It's relevant and offers up a discussion.

Don't the incessant polls and RP already do that? Or am I just a grouchy sourpuss?
Evilbob 14th Jul 2015, 3:28 PM edit delete reply
Nahhhh. You can't be a grouchy sourpuss! Your opinions are not only valid, but represent the undeniable truth.
Toric 16th Jul 2015, 9:07 AM edit delete reply
But nowhere does your opening comment mention deep sea fishing rights...

Also, the joy of first comment is internal and becomes diluted and impure when commented upon again.

I have a bad feeling that the upcoming brawl is going to be both in game.....and out of game. Better secure those drinks unless you want soggy character sheets girls.
FanOfMostEverything 14th Jul 2015, 7:00 AM edit delete reply
Ah, tree sap. The tanglefoot bag of Friendship is Magic.
Digo 14th Jul 2015, 7:05 AM edit delete reply
Spud, do you accept grayscale pencil comic art? I have a decent idea of a hand-drawn comic.
Newbiespud 14th Jul 2015, 7:56 AM edit delete reply
If I didn't, that'd be awfully hypocritical.
Digo 14th Jul 2015, 8:28 AM edit delete reply
Ah, I had forgotten that page. Okay well guess I'll work on my idea! ^^
Raxon 14th Jul 2015, 1:16 PM edit delete reply
What about glittery macaroni art comics?

Welded metal sculpture comics?

Interpretive dance?
Winged Cat 14th Jul 2015, 1:30 PM edit delete reply
I'm not even going to ask about animated GIFs, let alone Flash or JavaScript or other non-static content.
Digo 14th Jul 2015, 1:49 PM edit delete reply
Dude, if you manage a comic solely on macaroni art, I'd be really impressed. :D
Raxon 15th Jul 2015, 7:53 PM edit delete reply
I would have to mail the macaroni comic to Spud, as I do not have a scanner.
Freemage 15th Jul 2015, 10:23 AM edit delete reply
If Raxon submits a video of interpretive dance, please, PLEASE use it.
Someone 15th Jul 2015, 1:50 PM edit delete reply
Doo Eet.
Azureink 15th Jul 2015, 5:19 PM edit delete reply
You mean interpretive dance with welded metal props covered in glittery macaroni.
daftdeafdave 14th Jul 2015, 2:35 PM edit delete reply
Can I vote for the interpretive dance comic?
Evilbob 14th Jul 2015, 3:29 PM edit delete reply
I vote for all three! Or, in another manner of speaking: I am enthusiastically excited to see whatever anyone is not lazy enough to actually do.
Specter 14th Jul 2015, 7:07 AM edit delete reply
I know from personal experience how sticky some tree saps can be, and some of them are not that fun to get out of (but very fun to stick people's hands together).

... I still have yet to find a GM who would let most players use their knowledge of science to overcome some challenges (like helping a necromancer catch a single troublesome squirrel.
Draxynnic 14th Jul 2015, 7:30 AM edit delete reply
I think it's reasonable to ask for reasonable evidence that the character has the player's knowledge of science.

Wizard maxxed out in a relevant knowledge skill? Sure, depending on just how advanced the scientific concept in question is. Typical meatshield build? Probably not.

I don't think I've ever encountered a 'typical' meatshield build. Even the dumber-than-rocks minotaur Fighter turned out to have surprising social skills from his background as a carnie.

I once played a former US Army infantry who played a lethal prank on one of the BBEG's favorite minions:

Basically it was the flaming paper bag of poo gag, except I also added a small stick of C-4 plastic explosive at the bottom. C-4 is a fairly stable explosive, so burning it alone won't set it off. However, a hard impact while it's burning can set it off. So when the minion attempted to stomp out the poo bag fire...
Evilbob 14th Jul 2015, 3:54 PM edit delete reply
Unless that minion had a stomp that exerted a shockwave more potent than a 90lb anvil dropped from 3 feet above a burning C4, nothing shoulda happened...

Well... the minion mighta gotta poisoned from the fumes and stuff...
Digo 14th Jul 2015, 6:26 PM edit delete reply
I'm saddened that your post sounds like the BBEG is going to have favorite minions that are mundane folks. :3

Nay, this minion was a hybrid bat/bear creature with the strength to burst through a load-bearing wall with the same effort it takes most of us to open a bag of Skittles. Our only saving grace is that it couldn't fly. Smart enough to throw chunks of load-bearing wall at us though. D:

So to comfort your scientific concerns, yes it could stomp a stick of C-4 hard enough to cause it to detonate. Crippled it's foot quite well! :D
Specter 14th Jul 2015, 9:38 AM edit delete reply

Yeah, true, but even the tree hugging druids with knowledge nature +20 aren't allowed to do it if the GM didn't know that method ever actually existed.

Hypocritical of me to say for not allowing the Peasant Rail-Gun to exist in any of my games (and allowing "instant message travel" if you lined up enough people to hand a letter to each other from spot "A" to spot "B"), but that's besides the point.
daftdeafdave 14th Jul 2015, 2:41 PM edit delete reply
No that makes perfect sense. There's no translation of mass and velocity into damage dice in most systems (though you could hack something together from fall damage). On the other hand a message passed will stay passed.

Can't help thinking Applejack blatantly, openly getting carried to the front of the pack in front of the other NPCs is going to backfire pretty heavily...

Just making it seem like AJ's player is a jackass to RD more and more.

*Spoiler Free*
Do princesses dream of magic sheep

As I mentioned on Saturday this episode was the mid season mark and thus the last new episode this summer
So it won't be till October that the next episode comes out.

Anyway to the episode

This was a really cool episode and really developed some charecters
Things I liked
1) A Luna episode that focused on Luna's Charecter
2) the opening bit of this episode was epic
*Minor Spoiler*

3) LyraBon Literaly together (this was such an awsome little nod to the fans)

So like I said before no new episodes till October but expect Equestria Girls 3 : friendship games on Discovery Family Sept 26th (no theatrical release it's direct to DVD and TV)

Anyways I've had fun doing these reviews and look forward to returning to them this fall

Top 3 dream moments for me
Lyra and Bonbon pulling a catdog
Scootaloo making her wings gigantic
Spike becoming the dashing knight and riding Giant Derpy into battle

so I'm casually opening up submissions for guest comics within the next three and a half weeks.

...Crap, that means I should probably start working on a follow up to this one then. At least I have new stuff to work with, including that Apple Bloom episode I was hoping for, so it shouldn't be as hard as last time. Now where did I put that script...
Blueblade 15th Jul 2015, 10:31 AM edit delete reply
When you think about it the fact that in the show nopony else got stuck in the sap while running past Rainbow Dash is impressive... And also the fact that the sap buckets are next to the race track in such way that makes them easily knocked over by mistake is just a clear sign of someone having messed up int the first place... Also... I STILL LIVE!:D
