The second panel's dialogue has its roots in a creator in-joke I might as well explain...

When I grab screencaps, I use a file-naming scheme that involves an abbreviated subject, a one-word description, and a number. For most of the mane six, this is pretty simple (TS, AJ, RD, PP, FS)... but from pretty much the beginning, I've always written the full "Rarity" whenever I grab a screencap of her.

As though she'd find the abbreviation tacky and thus would not stand for it.

Notice: Guest comic submissions are open! Guidelines here. Deadline: January 27th, 2023.

Cause unnecessary drama by being a murder-hobo that spills into an OOC argument and then that ends up putting a PC out of commission for the rest of the adventure and has me (as GM) to call them out on being an ice-hole when he then attempts to set ally NPCs on fire, which results in the campaign getting canned.
Digo 6th Oct 2015, 7:31 AM edit delete reply
It's amusing that this has happened three times. I still love my players like siblings. I just think the murderhobo tendencies need to be toned down. ^^;

"want to start a new RP, even though we already have four separate campaigns going and unfinished"

You know, finishing the story and getting closure for once is nice, guysssssss.

I can also echo and understand those other sentiments regarding sociopathy and arguing... even if I'm often the one guilty of it that, lol.

Only four? One of my two groups decided to permanently retire a bunch of our campaigns...putting it down to 5.

...And that's just one group.
Digo 7th Oct 2015, 5:03 AM edit delete reply
I used to be bad about that, but I managed to turn around and get campaigns completed. I think there were only two campaigns that I did not finish off by the time the 'ol local gaming group dissolved.

Leave halfway through a session for bad reasons. "Oh! I forgot the season finale of my favorite show is gonna come on! I gotta go, guys!"

I can't be the only one that annoys.
Digo 7th Oct 2015, 5:06 AM edit delete reply
I dislike that too. I don't take it personally when someone doesn't show up at all because they want to see their fav movie, but coming over for just an hour and then bailing suddenly? I'd like warnings so I can plan around that.

The group took issue with both chaotic, and good.
Guest 7th Oct 2015, 8:06 PM edit delete reply
because chaotic good is uncontrollable but works towards betterment, you find it impossible? rocks fall, you die(probably. can't kill insanity completely, it seems.).

Make a one-note-joke character in a serious class when everyone else has a character with goals and habits and potential for growth.

Really, our gnome inquisitor makes everyone I know facepalm constantly, she doesn't use any of the inquisitor stuff, and she ALWAYS has to have her way and be the 'funny gal'. Really tempted to have more enemies focus on her soon...
Digo 7th Oct 2015, 5:09 AM edit delete reply
I had a somewhat opposite of that. Mine was the only character that I build a well-rounded backstory, along with short and long term goals. Everyone else was just "There".

Kinda annoying cause if a moment came up to advance my character's long-term goal, it often get inhibited by the others wanting to just go kill and loot a dungeon. :p :3

"... play an evil character in a good campaign, screwing over the whole party with the unnecessary drama and trouble."

Seriously, why the artificial tension? I recently played in a game where two of the party members were not only evil, but sacrificing orphans to dark gods in order to gain power/lift a curse, and our lawful good fighter found out through a cleric's divinations. When my kender wizard found out, there were now TWO people who left for moral reasons. Pissed me off, because I was really enjoying playing that kender.

I don't get why so many players insist on their Evil characters rocking the boat. Moustache-twirling villainy is not a prerequisite for evil; even the most self-serving scumbag can have reasons for being a team player - perhaps the party is the best hope for saving the world, AKA the place they all live in, or perhaps the evil PC is just genre savvy enough to realize that a group of PCs is a nigh-unstoppable force that it's better to stand with than in front of.
Super Kami Guru 8th Oct 2015, 12:31 AM edit delete reply
@Disloyal. I hear you. Fortunately of the few games I've played so far, the players who were evil aligned actually play for the good of the team. Hell in our current game of pathfinder, we a have 14 year old, half-elf, fighter, psyonic warrior who stands around 4.5 ft tall and wields two full blades. I'll skip the backstory but lets just say it wasn't pretty for her growing up. Now she is borderline sadomasichistic, and actually thoroughly enjoys causing and inflicting pain on someone. However, she can also turn around and walk around in a sun dress without a care in the world. Also, she's very loyal to the group. The character is verrrry surreal sometimes.

"...complain about combat taking too long, and then proceed to drag on combat with flowery descriptions."
I feel like this is why I can never get a campaign to last for longer than two or three sessions.

Winged Cat 6th Oct 2015, 12:19 PM edit delete reply
Rarity is most certainly not R-rated. (Unless it's one of those clopfics.)

Though she arrre a good enough pirate, as in a certain set of comics.

Knowing what she thinks of her neighbors Q and S would require defining them, though I think she would settle for Q being Discord (because Discord) and S being Celestia (given the pronunciation).

I dunno, she's the first (only, really) to resort to seduction and second only to Rainbow in defaulting to violence as a problem-solver. If any of them were gonna have a rating higher than PG, it'd be her. Well, unless Twilight has any ethically questionable experiments in her basement.

Of course, that's the show characters. FiD is a bit different.

Boris Carlot 6th Oct 2015, 11:28 AM edit delete reply
Well, she *IS* a PC. PCs tend to kick the ass of the average NPC schlub. Even Fluttershy would probably do better than most :p
Winged Cat 6th Oct 2015, 12:24 PM edit delete reply
You don't even need that. RD in this game has a kind of "I am the only one allowed to defeat you" toward AJ, so this is pure IC reaction.

(Though yes. One could view Fluttershy vs. Iron Will through this lens.)

That said, do I sense a derail coming on?

That last panel. How many times have I elicited that response from my DM, either out loud or in thought, when I try to figure out as much details as possible about the world I'm playing in and about the situation I'm currently in. Hey, I put a good amount of points into those knowledge skills! I want to make good use of them!

I do still feel bad though, especially since this particular DM I'm referring to prefers to make stuff off the top of his head rather than rely on any kind of notes.
Edgewalker_001 7th Oct 2015, 4:02 AM edit delete reply
I always put points into knowledge skills. I'm pretty sure that even if I played a fighter, I'd have more points in knowledges than in parry... =p

Then again, the only melee character I've played in the last year went up against an Otyugh and failed to even damage it... I knew I should've just cast magic missile, since he was a spellsword.

"Just one more check!" I've learned to just let him keep trying until he gets himself or somebody else killed by frustrating the villains with his incessant defiance. I've also given him a maximum of two extra checks in one scene to keep him from crippling the story and everyone else's focus.

I use RR, as is the convention in Chinese MLP fandom where her name is translated to "Rui Rui". At the same time it's also RaRity, so it works.
