Dodge City. Which was also apparently a mistake on the first version of the official map of Equestria before someone told them to correct it back to "Junction."

Even without a pony term, they still made puns.
Who here got the pun before Rarity revealed it?
Me: If she didn't, I would have never gotten it.

I'd be remiss if I missed that one again. ;)

I'm just waiting to see if this AJ gets the heck out of Dodge.

I never would've thought of it. But to be fair it's less of a pun and more of an ironic name.

Wooo! I'm happy I don't have to cook the dinner. Not that I don't like cooking, but after the Thanksgiving turkey debacle I want a break.

Happy Hearths Warming Eve! I've been a big fan for a while but never took the time to comment. Here's to a whole new year of FiD!

These players are so cooperative. It's like, unreal. XD

I'm used to groups where all the players in favor of doing the watch anyway will band together while the others sleep in.
Winged Cat 24th Dec 2015, 10:35 AM edit delete reply
Eh? In the groups I've been in that needed watch, even if some PCs have wanted to sleep in (or, usually, had to due to recovering from injuries or were otherwise unable to meaningfully contribute to watch), those who were doing the watch knew to spread it among those who were doing it.
Digo Dragon 24th Dec 2015, 11:12 AM edit delete reply
Digo Dragon
Well, let me explain in another way. Using the above situation, if it were my group, then RD and Rarity would still set up a watch anyway while Flutters sleeps the night.

Good thing AJ's player isn't here. Unless that's the ploy? Talk about the plan in front of AJ, and then when she plans around that plan, the others plan around the plan the AJ planned around the others' first plan?
Winged Cat 24th Dec 2015, 10:22 PM edit delete reply
Keep her so busy planning that she never actually implements a plan? Of course, that can easily backfire: it is easier for five to fall into revision paralysis than it is for one.

Okay, backstory first. So, our campaign is taking place in a Pokemon setting that the GM has developed over two other campaigns. (technically one is our past and one is our future, but eh) Thanks in part to some members of the first campaign, Pokemon are now more legally accepted members of society, and some even become trainers in their own right.

Our party was recruited by a dye company rather famous in the region, to help stir up excitement for its new Pokemon League by challenging their gyms, with promises of extra cash from our employer when we beat said gyms. The region is currently more famous for its 88 temples, which circle the entire region, and doing a pilgrimage to all of them is a common goal.

Our current party consists of:
-Surolam, my character, a mostly-blind rich girl who's recently run away from her somewhat immoral family to satiate her wanderlust. Currently taking the temple challenge out of curiosity, and because the shrine objects tend to have good advice as well. Has the ability to communicate with inanimate objects, and gets a lot of information about what's going on from talking to her cane. Also has a rather old bell that acts as a sort of mentor to her. Has some dragon blood in her lineage, which is slowly starting to manifest itself.
-Jil Joti, an android created by the bad guys of the DM's first campaign, who wanted to get rid of human dependence on Pokemon by giving humans Pokemon abilities through high-tech armor. Jil was a prototype for their next step. She "escaped" from the labs during an earthquake, and was found by a Jenny/Joy sister pair who also run a clothing business. She's now serving as their model, as well as taking the temple challenge and trying to find her place in the world. Very good at jumping and landing on enemies.
-Altair Azure, a magical construct who left his creator after they had a falling-out. Worked as a household servant for an older couple after that, and got some life advice and a suggestion about doing the temple challenge from them. Can also communicate with inanimate objects, and has a lantern that he deeply cherishes. Has earth-based elemental powers as well. Also has a masked superhero alter-ego that may be a completely different personality.
-Molly, an ex-pirate, ex-pampered pet Meowstic. Doesn't use Pokeballs, instead gathering an assortment of Pokemon as her "crew." Carries a gun, and is a damn good shot with it. Mostly in this for the cash, although she also plans to collect badges, since her old captain has said that whichever of his old crew gets a certain number of badges will be given the location and ownership of his old ship.
-Jericho, the only normal human. The son of two geologists, he left home for an unknown reason when he was just 13 and had to support himself after that. A thief and a liar, who usually calls himself a "street magician." While he and the group have had some initial falling-outs, he is slowly coming to accept the idea of being a team player. Still mainly in this for the cash though.

Now, you should also know that Surolam is totally pursuing all three of her humanoid teammates, admittedly in somewhat different ways. Jil is the only one who's been made explicitly aware of her intentions. Also, her two Ghost-type Pokemon, both of who were human in their past lives, have made it their goal to help this poly-ship sail. Altair's lantern is also totally in on it.

Also, our GM has an NPC named Mr. Hotei who has a tendency to appear during Christmas, or during game anniversaries. He now has an assistant named Minerva, the dragon-riding daughter of a character from the first game. They also tend to time travel a lot, so continuity isn't a problem for them.

This Christmas, our group had just arrived at one of the shrines after an encounter with bandits beforehand. The next morning, it was revealed that Mr. Hotei and Minerva were also guests there. It was also revealed by the temple keeper that her shrine was in serious disarray. So our gift-giving duo immediately volunteered themselves and us into helping fix up the shrine while one of their dragons took the shrine keeper to buy groceries. Rewards were promised to convince Molly and Jericho to help.

The cleaning went well, and Jil actually finished it off with a chant, which segued well into the fact that it suddenly started snowing. (Jericho, who knows mountains, was very bothered by this.) While Mr. Hotei gave everyone hot cocoa, Minerva pulled out a giant pile of presents for everyone. To prevent this from getting too long, I'll post the highlights.

Surolam: A crystal nest that requires 2-4 creatures holding it during an Extended Rest to produce an egg with those creatures as parents. Also, a sprig of preserved mistletoe with several stories to tell.
Jil: A program for a "copy chip" she has, which allows her to emulate the functions of other programs easily. Said program allows her to take on draconic appearances and abilities.
Altair: A pair of speciality Moon Balls made by Kurt's granddaughter. As well as a polishing kit for his lantern. (Surolam got a similar one)
Molly: BOXES AND SHINY RIBBONS. Oh, and her own pirate flag.
Jericho: A Shiny Stone and a game board. Both of which seemed to stir up memories in him...

Later on, Altair tried to give one of his Pokemon to Mr. Hotei, since he felt that he couldn't help that Pokemon fulfil his dream. However, Hotei encouraged him to talk to that Pokemon himself, and said Pokemon ended up choosing to stay with Altair. Also, when Surolam left her family, she took with her a box of various antiques and valuable items that they had stolen from others, who were all eager to escape as well. One of those items was a sleigh bell, which turned out to originally belong to Mr. Hotei, and she returned it to him.

Finally, there were also several presents that weren't explicitly for one person, so we ended up opening them together. While this was going on, Zojiik, Surolam's Yamask, swiped the mistletoe and held it over everyone's heads. There was a pause while Jil searched it in her database, and then Surolam got her first kiss. Of course, she wasn't done yet, and after a pause went on to inform the rest of the party that she had other romantic interests as well. Unfortunately, Altair's reaction to her kissing him (just on the cheek) was basically to excuse himself and retreat.

There was an awkward pause, and everyone turned to dividing up the general present boxes and then cleaning up. Jericho was thus saved from having Surolam go for him next. Also we gained levels, and I decided to take a level in my homebrew class, which is based on supporting your romantic partners.

What game system did you use for all that?
GrayGriffin 25th Dec 2015, 5:29 PM edit delete reply
Well, the simple answer is Pokemon Tabletop United, but we're using a heavily homebrewed version of it, with lots of changed mechanics and homebrew classes. As a matter of fact, all of our characters are using at least one homebrew class.

Well, I'm one of those silly folks who didn't get the pun behind the place's name in the show until I read Rarity's explanation of it in this page. I'm so lame... >_>
