Saturdays have been "podcast publish day" for so long that it's going to take me a while to get used to Thursdays. But the last three years of editing audio files has helped streamline the process, so I figured you all should benefit.

Notice: Guest comic submissions are open! Guidelines here. Deadline: January 27th, 2023.

I like to call this one London Bridge is Falling Down
Basically, people and important things are on the bridge.
Someone destroys said bridge
You get idea.
Any stories?

No, but a friend has a story involving a convertible that saved his character from being killed by a bridge~

It was a kind of Super Spy campaign. The party was chasing down enemy agents in a helicopter across the Seven Mile Bridge in the Florida keys. During the fight, the baddies damaged their vehicle so everyone had to bail out. The party jumps out of the helicopter into the water below, except for my friend; he accidentally jumped out the other side--over the bridge. At the height he was at and with traffic below, he was guaranteed to go splat and be killed.

The GM decided to give him a longshot~ A 3% chance of surviving this fall by some miracle. My friend rolls the percentile and... 1%, a critical success of the highest order!

The GM rules that his character lands in the plush back seat of a passing convertible (that had it's roof down), resulting in him only breaking both legs against the passenger door. An amazing stroke of die rolling luck right there. ^_^

I wish I could have a good story. I've sadly had so many killer gms use any character against me. I never have any character with family, friends usable, or even a cat/dog.

Anytime i've remotely had something nice, those types have deliberately gone after them. I hate that design idea, but its so heavily ingrained, that even now.

I just can't deviate from giving a gm any character ammo for them to destroy any bridges as it were.

Once bitten, twice shy, as it goes. Though more in my case, its dozens burned, learned the darn lesson.

does blowing up a building count
if its the wrong building?

(due to bad penmanship we blew up the wrong warehouse... ironically one scheduled for demolition.)

Gilda's comment about AJ's accent reminds me of times I've played heavily accented characters. I sometimes get really into character that the accent stays "on" when I'm speaking OOC. XD

The two more notable characters are my main OC Doc Wagon (who has a western twang) and The Great and Powerful Trixie, who had a slight Spanish accent because I rolled her Rs as I do in Spanish so it became natural to bring out the accent to make it easier to speak her lines.

I'm okay with a Spanish Trixie. :3

Then there was a former local player who also did a Spanish accent for his Rogue Kard and he often forgot to turn it off when speaking OOC. Good times.

Now I'm just imagining Trixie as one of those over-dramatic Spanish-language Soap Opera Divas. It's a surprisingly suitable match.

Oooh, Trixie in a telenovella would be hilarious. XD

Honestly, silly accents is one of the best things about roleplaying in general. When I remember the wide array of those that I used over the course of the years...

Heh. The worst part about me mostly playing Shadowrun these days is that it means I can't do my silly voices - I am utterly incapable of even a bad American accent and all of my bad regional British accents are inappropriate :c
Blueblade 25th Sep 2016, 8:35 PM edit delete reply
I'm rarely ever able to up a good accent for my characters so I often just go with my own voice.
Guest 25th Sep 2016, 10:35 PM edit delete reply
We've had a character who used the local equivalent of a hillbilly accent for his character's lines when said character was disguised as a basic grunt.
Dropping the accent made for very effective dramatic unmasks.

I have a hippogriff NPC who's a loud, reckless bruiser who has what is, in practice, a sort of bastardized Irish/Cockney accent. The funny thing about it is that no member of his family, on either the pony side or the griffon side he was raised by, have that sort of accent at all.

Okay, but I am totally on board with canon Applejack actually calling her hind hooves that.
Jason Shadow 24th Sep 2016, 11:35 AM edit delete reply
As a matter of fact, canon Applejack actually HAS called her hind legs that. I believe the first (and maybe only?) instance was in "The Mysterious Mare-Do-Well", if memory serves...

Hmm, "Kicks McGee" sounds a lot like...never mind.
Blueblade 25th Sep 2016, 8:37 PM edit delete reply
Why are we kicking McGee? What has he ever done to us? X3

I just realized that AJ has made a workable monk PC. :3
ChrisTheS 24th Sep 2016, 7:55 PM edit delete reply
Well, dual ranger was pretty much the go-to for homebrew monks before PH3 came out. I made one myself... for the benefit of the group that refused to even give 4e a fair shot :(
