DM: So... The directions from the animals send you all on a wild chase through the palace's lavish east wing.
Applejack: Some sorta old-timey Scooby Doo affair, I take it.
DM: No no, it's quite serious. Prince Blueblood – or rather Elusive – is now a fugitive on the run.
Twilight Sparkle: Do we have to roll Athletics?
DM: No, the help makes speed a non-factor.
Twilight Sparkle: Thank goodness.
Applejack: Before we get too far, how's Rarity holdin' up? Just so the party knows where she's at.
Rarity: Rarity has made her decision. We're taking Elusive down tonight. And, if necessary, the Thieves Guild with him!
Twilight Sparkle: Either way, let's assume he's got a few tricks up his sleeve.
DM: A safe bet.
Rainbow Dash: Awww yeah, it's boss fight time. This is everything I ever wanted out of this session.
Pinkie Pie: Hey! That means we actually get to try out our new builds!
Fluttershy: At least it shouldn't be too difficult, right? Because he's just a thief? Oh, who am I kidding...?
I wonder if Blueblood will try to escape on the royal yacht, so that we get a screencap of the time he and Rarity christened it (or is that... sunlit it?).
"Edited"? Wow, this art is even greater than I thought if that's what you're thinking. Or maybe it will become even clearer on the next page... and so many of the ones after that.
You can see it in the noses, Digo. The bridge is more prominent in the show. It should be super obvious from Pinkie Pie's face in the last panel. Seems to be a particular artstyle signature mark of ChristheS.
The eyes vary enough in the show itself that any slight difference in them is easily overlooked. The muzzles, however, have been basically the same for 7 seasons. People's pattern/face recognition neurons have internalized them, and so can more easily spot changes.
For me, the definite tip off for this not being a screencap was Fluttershy's mouth in the last panel.
Fluttershy and Pinkie in the first panel was a hint that it wasn't from the show, but since those two are in the background, I thought the shot of AJ, Twilight, and Rarity running was just a few seconds of the episode that I didn't remember after so many years.
It was on the third look at the characters that I recognized the style from Star Mares.
@ChristheS It's okay, lol. Just do you. It looks nice, and it's not like the goal is exact replication here, anyway. (At least... I don't think that's the goal?)
And unless you did traced muzzles for Every. Single. Drawing, your own artstyle would peek through. Kinda inevitable as the show style muzzle is basically the exact same drawing/vector of each angle copied over and over again.
Edited in that parts within the screen caps were changed. Like, the direction the face was looking, but not changing the body for example. I used to do that with the Elements of Smarmony.
Honestly, I didn't notice at all. Admittedly, it's common for nuances in art to fly over my head at first glance, but it's been so long since I've seen The Best Night Ever that I didn't at all suspect that these weren't straight screencaps.
I came up with a new persona.
Bare bones only.
I guess he would technically be a necromancer.
His entire body is fear.
Even looking at his finger would give you the creeps.
He has a face that only Cthulhu can withstand. (No relation)
He has to cover up his entire body to be in public.
He does not have the ability to turn off the fear aura.
What do you guys think?
Also, if everyone's creeped out by him, how does he get food et al? Lots of people instinctively seek to destroy what they fear, so wouldn't he be refused service at and sent away from any store or restaurant? Does he live off of delivery services and vending machines, and shaking down passers-by for cash?
And especially these days, if he passes through a neighborhood where the cops are less than professional (say, any place where the cops routinely pull black drivers over for Driving While Black), how does he go more than several blocks without being arrested for whatever charge the cops make up (because said police equate "someone I fear" with "someone I need to get off the streets", law be damned), every time he goes to such a place? (Being 100% covered up would also make him look suspicious, perhaps not as much but still subject to a high rate of random arrest.)
I mean, I get the on-first-glance appeal, but he seems incredibly weaksauce in practice.
Like I said, bare bones.
More classic D&D style environment.
Wizard robe and hood, with mask, as second cover.
With Kakashi eating through mask way.
First place he goes to in a new town is go to the leader or head of defense to explain.
They don't want him, he leaves.
I recall Volke from "Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance," who first presents himself as a thief but turns out to be a skilled assassin. On the player's side, mercifully.
And if you'll look to your left, you'll see the rails that we just jumped.
